We ate here during our vacation and loved it. We were lucky that we only had to wait 10 minutes for a free table because we hadn't made a reservation. We didn't know exactly what to order because we didn't know our way around and what with chicken. And it was so delicious. One dish had a raw egg on it and we were horrified at first. But our waitress saw this and realized that we tourists have no idea what to do. She courageously grabbed the spoon and quickly stirred everything. The pot in which the food came (No. 39y) was boiling hot and the food continued to sizzle in it.
They also helped us not to order too spicy.
The restaurant is small but cozy. Water and appetizers were available free of charge. Would always go here.

We arrived in NYC a couple of years ago late at night on Christmas eve, and found this cozy place practically next door to our hotel. The food was good and the staff was kind.

The food is nice, but the service made me feel bad. It is so hard to get attention of the waiter to place your order and get the check. The waitress looks so busy and can’t stay around you for even one more second. When I wanted the check, I have to go to the cashier. I love the food there, but I don’t think I will go again.

A great backstop to Cho Dang Gol (sounds horrible to say, but it is what it is). Soon do bu was average but decent enough. Side dishes are pretty disappointing. Seafood pancake was actually quite good. Never have to wait, no frills. You know what you're signing up for when you walk in.

Nice Korean restaurant tasty food. We tried this restaurant out of convenience being close to the hotel we were staying at. Staff were friendly. Menu has a variety of authentic Korean meals from bibimbap to hot pot and soups. Meals are ranging $20-35 best to share between friends and family to make it cost effective. They have a meal deal appetizer and main which is nice but price didn’t work out for my family. Taste was great. We like spicy and it definitely was. If you aren’t familiar with Korean food you might not be familiar with the look or taste of the food some spicy sour or bitter so take note. But overall was great. Meal for 4 with tax and tip was $100 for 3 dishes slightly pricey in my opinion. But loved the food.

This place was great! The Ban Chan selection was delectable. Service attentive. Food was tasty and hot. My wine glass was big and full. The decor looks medival. I would suggest the combo meal. I got seafood pancake, with non spicy soup. They have a salt pepper mix to add for flavor. I don't know why people say the place next door is better. Don't wait. Eat at Han Bat.

Tired of waiting for the restaurant next door, I had no choice but to go. Staff lady, stop admonishing customers about the tipping culture. I feel bad. This Korean restaurant should go out of business soon.

When my 75 year old mother dies, I will never return. She only wants their soup. They always give us less side dishes because we are Chinese and not white or Korean but we don't get a discount for being subhuman. I always tip because I am humble but in 30 years, they don't give me greens with my bulgogi or kalbi unless I give them three dollars which is not on the menu. I hope my mom lives a long time but they are always mean to us.

Decent Korean restaurant in the Korean town area. Good ban chan, prompt service. We like the seafood pancake and beef soup.
Nice settings and decor.

This restaurant has been around for decades! I remember my first visit was in 2011, when a colleague introduced this restaurant to me.

Back to present day, now this is one of my go-to restaurants for lunch whenever I plan to meet up with a fried for a quick catch-up. I highly recommend visiting on a Friday to avoid any rush hour crowd. Whether it’s for lunch or dinner bc many companies are still offering a hybrid work from home Friday schedule. Which means staffs are friendlier and food quality is always at its best when there is a smaller crowd.

Their lunch special prices are unbeatable considering this joint is located in midtown Manhattan, New York. Bc a typical lunch meal is generally more expensive than any other NY boroughs. The lunch special menu offers many opts, so you will definitely find something suitable one way or another and leave satisfied since they serve a good portion too. Let’s not forget all the complimentary side dishes they provide before your meal even arrives. I like to pair the kimchis with my entree, but while I wait for my entree to arrive, I snack on the other side dishes.

This is another must try restaurant in my opinion if you are new in the area, or if you are a local and craving authentic Korean food.

We were waiting for table next door and it will be a good 2 hours wait. Therefore, we walk in to this place and got a table immediately. We ordered some regular Korean food. A little over-priced and I find the food is not tasteful. (the hot spice over power the taste of the dishes) I have been to many Korean resteraunt around the world and this is by far the worst. I hope others will find this review helpful.

This restaurant was fine, I ordered the rice in a stone pan with the seafood. It was fine at first, but the rice ended up burning. This made it unpleasant and tasteless. The map was unclear. The atmosphere was very cozy and the starters that you get for free were delicious, especially the kimchi. The staff was very nice and we didn't have to wait long for our food.
