Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa, Staten Island NY

I really didn’t want to write a poor review for Hand and Stone but I did want to share my experience and since no one has called me back after 2 weeks of me calling asking to speak to a manager - I felt leaving a review was justified now. I went to Hand and Stone 2 weeks ago using a giftcard I received and was so excited for my massage. My massage therapist was not friendly - which typically wouldn’t bother me as long as I’m getting a good massage out of it. The first part of the massage was rough, but I had a ton of knots in my upper back that needed to be worked out so I didn’t mind the pain and I’ve gotten many massages before so I was used to the feeling. However once she moved down to my legs and I could feel her texting with one hand, and using her other hand to just gently rub my leg, even pausing at times because she seemed to forget she was massaging me - that didn’t sit well with me but I still didn’t say anything. Once it was time to turn over facing up, she placed a hot towel under my neck which I love! However, usually when it’s time to remove the towel after - a masseuse will give you a heads up to let you know they’ll be removing it or they will ask you to lift your head. My masseuse just ripped it out from under my neck with no notice, so my head hit the table and the baby hairs from the back of my neck were ripped with the towel. She made a few other comments during the massage that I just didn’t appreciate. Overall I didn’t feel relaxed at all during this massage - which is the main reason I went. I decided to call the next day to share my experience with a manager, I briefly explained and was told I’d be called back by the owner. After 2 days with no call I decided to call back and check in, there was no manager there so I left my info to be called back. This has now gone on for 2 weeks, I’ve called probably 8 times at this point because I really wanted to give them a chance to rectify the situation, but I was getting tired of calling every day so I came to write a review instead. I hope no one else has an experience like this with Hand and Stone.

Facial and massages are always great. Clean facility, therapists and staff are a pleasure. Highly recommend!

I went today for the first time and got a facial with Gina. She was great! Wonderful facial massage and would definitely go back! I just wish she explained to me what she was applying to my face while she was applying it. Place is very clean and front desk ladies are sweet! I also appreciated the aesthetician not chewing my ear off while giving me the facial. I was able to unwind and leave with a wonderful facial! Thank you

Had a facial from Anna and it was absolutely amazing! She explained what would be good for my skin care and took the time to explain every products purpose. I can’t wait to come back for another!

Had a mom and daughter spa day, both had an hour aroma therapy full body massages! First time for both of us with different massage therapists both Diana and Martina did an excellent job 10/10 and last but not least Eda, excellent customer service/ bedside manner.both mom and I are super pleased and will be back!

If I could give this place a -10, I probably would. I had to cancel my appointment less than 24 hours on the phone with the general manager who was extremely rude, racist and very disrespectful. I would highly go somewhere else for your service. Their customer service has dropped tremendously in the last year. The general manager told me that she changed one card on file to find out later that she charged another card on file. They like to play with your money. Never leave your card with them if you can. They have cause me emotional distress while I was going through an emergency myself.
PLEASE TAKE YOUR BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE MISTREATED by the general manager who unfortunately doesn’t have the skills and talents to be in the position where she is at. The person before me had a bad review and they deleted their review. Rest assure if this review gets deleted, I will be rewriting over and over again. No worries

I’ve been to Hand and Stone twice so far this year after never receiving a massage before. I was a little nervous as I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew I needed one due to my constant muscle pain. Giovanna and Shakira made me feel very comfortable and were great at explaining the details of the full body massage as well as any add ons to the massage I’d like to add upon request. (The aromatherapy and hot stones are a great addition to the experience.) They were also very attentive and always checked up on me to make sure I was okay with the pressure, temperature of the stones etc. The front desk and management staff were also very friendly and welcoming.

Simply said they're no good. Had to call the corporate office on them because my wife booked a massage for later the same day then called back within 2 hours after to cancel because she didn't feel good and found out she had covid. They held her to the 24 hour cancellation policy even though she only booked 2 hours ago and then came down with a virus. They docked her a session anyway. Disgraceful. Since I recently cancelled, I learned that Massage Envy and Relax on Cloud 9 are both better. Oh and they deleted my last one star post so I'll just have to copy this one now and repost next time after they delete again.

I received a gift card and enjoyed a wonderful facial. I must compliment the staff from the delightful receptionist to the most profession manger Danielle making me feel so welcomed, she explained all services so professionally to me that I purchased a monthly package. I recommend Hand and stone, you won’t regret it. Enjoy!

Recently, this business underwent new management, a result of which effectively cost me, financially and emotionally. First, I was advised by a worker that management was providing false information to clients about certain worker schedules, in an effort to push clients to use their preferred workers. Thereafter, my appointments were consistently cancelled after I made them 30 days in advance. After my last service, I spent a total of 3 hours in time & communications trying to reconcile my account with workers and owners. Further, I requested termination of my contract in September, and I was misled by the owner, Traci in response (who charged me THAT day for another package). Subsequently, I was charged $129.00 for another service, without any credit or courtesy discount whatsoever. I would NEVER, ever recommend this business. Beware.
