Korean Restaurant Hangawi reviews
17Awesome food, great service and excellent location. Bring socks as you leave shoes at the door. Super helpful when choosing dishes, love this place.
I visited during NYC restaurant week with a group of 5. We ordered from the restaurant week menu, the regular menu was available via scanning a QR code but that website took forever to load. Only 1 phone out of our group was able to load the menu. The food was just ok, I would not return for it. I really enjoyed the todok salad- it was the highlight of the meal. The mushroom medley was underwhelming. The matcha cheesecake was ok. The atmosphere was great, I liked the tables, sitting on the floor with the cushions. It was comfortable enough to stay and linger in conversation- if only the food and drinks could keep up. Our waiter wasn't attentive after our initial orders landed on the table, so no round 2 drinks, no tea after dinner- there simply wasn't a chance to flag him down and order it. I might return if my friends want to but I won't be suggesting this restaurant.
Really ambient atmospheric conditions indoors for a Sunday Afternoon Brunch. No timed limitations for a party of four. Very exceptional menu items and purely vegan too. The Bulgogi vegan version with its own plant-based meat was superb! Definitely a must if you have a chance to try it here. All the entrees are terrific and the appeal of just appetizers alone is amazing too.
This place was so yummy.vegan food aside. I didn't love every single thing we got, but it was a very good experience overall.the menu is a bit overwhelming and i had a bit of choice overload. I loved the sticky rice cakes! The crispy mushrooms were recommended to us.while the first few bites were good, I felt like it was really greasy.i LOVED the ambiance and sitting in the korean style tables.i would definitely come back here!
Ok so the place is really cute. Love the concept of taking off our shoes and almost sitting on the floor. It makes you feel really relaxed and right at home.
As a meat eater I've usually been surprised by vegan/vegetarian restaurants with how much flavour they pack in the dishes. At Hangawi the sesame leaf tofu patties, Korean pancake platter and the kimchi stone rice bowl were super flavourful although we did add a little extra gochuchang and chilli oil. But even without the additions it was pretty delicious.
But the spicy baby dumplings and the spicy cauliflower bites were anything but spicy. And there really wasn't much going on in terms of flavour.
So the overall experience was a bit hit or miss. But a unique experience nevertheless.
Might be one of the very few vegetarian only Korean restaurants in the city.
Great food.
Strongly recommend phone reservations and be on time or expect delays.
It was truly an enjoyable experience. Tasty & Flavorful vegan food. Kimchi stone bowl rice was my favorite and I would say it’s a must try for people who like spicy food. I wish they had option to have dumplings without mushrooms. Sake also tasted good.
We had to take our shoes off at the entrance. The seats we comfortable and food was brilliant. Wonderful experience at the place. The tofu steak was amazing. The hangawi stone bowl and the plant bulgogi stone bowl were good too.
The experience here is worth going at least once. We walked into HanGawi, a place we chose because I am a vegetarian, and were asked to take off our shoes. We then were seated at a low table where we could dangle our legs below the table. It was such a fun experience for seating.
We ordered the pancakes to share and I got a kimchi stone pot. It was absolutely delicious and I can't wait to come back here to try more dishes!
Having a reservation here is recommended. Loved the food and service. Staff were attentive and friendly. Before being seated, shoes must be removed and staff will take care of them. Dining experience is one of a kind. We ordered Spicy baby dumplings, sesame leaf covered tofu, and tofu hot pot. All the items tasted fresh and to our likes. We will be back to try more items. Recommend this place.
It was good except the cocktails. We paid and it was not tasting an once of alcool. Take a beer it will be cheaper. Staff was ok but we enjoyed the place and the food.
An excellent restaurant for fantastic Korean food. Completely vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurant. I loved the Hangawi Stone bowl for the main course meal. Vegetable dumplings were great appetizer option as well. Ginger tea is fantastic and recommend to get it.
I spilled a cocktail by mistake and they were so kind to replace it and I was very impressed seeing their response. Thank you to their staff for their kind gesture.
The atmosphere was great, food was fantastic and people are awesome at the restaurant.
Must visit place if you love and appreciate amazing food options
Great vegetarian Korean restaurant. The dumplings and cauliflower bites were amazing, I really liked the pancakes and the rice cakes. The waiter Nobu was amazing and highly attentive. Highly recommend.
Very tasty and unusual food.
We really liked the atmosphere and the food.
At the beginning you have to take off your shoes, perhaps as information for visitors, but it is still a noble ambience.
What an incredible authentic Korean restaurant! And best part, it’s vegan. Got the pancakes, rolls platter, mochi ice cream and Todok Bibimbap. Everything was topnotch and so flavor.
The experience was phenomenal. Peaceful even though it was fully packed. The vibe was amazing. Totally recommend for family night, date night, friends night, or just solo.
Great ambiance, impeccable service, delicious tea, and good vegetarian food. I especially recommend the sweet potato noodles and the kimchi hot pot!
Insanely amazing - if you’re vegetarian you will have the best food if your life there. Don’t hesitate to go.
