Harbour Fish Restaurant, Mamaroneck NY

We went for restaurant week, their food was absolutely delicious! The lobster bisque was delicious, I'm not a lobster fan but it was amazing!

We chose Harbor Fish during restaurant week as we love seafood. What a mistake. The restaurant had no plan- was it casual, fancy? It looked like a take out “joint”. Prices were hefty, they went with the $44.95 price fixe yet definitely not a high end place. Uncomfortable chairs, bare tables- no table cloth or placemats. I can tell a restaurant by the bread and this was 4 small slices of store bought Italian bread served on a plate with pats of butter for 4 people.
Our waitress explained, when asked, that it was her first day and she wasn’t familiar with the items on the menu. She was sweet but looked as if she was going to work in a cocktail lounge. They needed to decide what it wanted to be before attempting such a diverse menu. Two pictures, hung way to high and a metal sculpture stuck on the wall isn’t enough. When we sat down the busboy or was he a waiter, started lowering the lights. We explained we really wanted more light and this was not a restaurant that needed low lights.
Oh my goodness! And the food! 3 orders of fried calamari that tasted like cheap frozen food from a discount box store. Definitely not “real” calamari. Looked like onion rings and were cold. Waitress took them back for what appeared to be a microwave zap. Paella tasted like boxed rice with some tomato sauce added. Clams and mussels tasted fresh.
Two of us had paella and 2 had the shrimp in lobster sauce. Unfortunately, the pasta was cold and oily. And the paella may have been called that but nothing else was similar to the dish.
We were all looking forward to the key lime pie for dessert only to find out they had none. Hard to believe they ever had any that night as we were only one of two tables at 7 P. M. The banana flan was inedible and we were people who knew flan. It was store bought cheesecake. Ok, maybe a good cup of coffee- only to find out they only had regular and espresso - no decaf. It took the new waitress several minutes to find that out.
Some advice to 2 week old restaurant - have someone who cares about the restaurant there during its first two weeks of being open to greet the guests and make them /us connect. Have someone other than a waitress on her first day (and she walked in with us at 7 P. M.) and a helper who only spoke Spanish (as we did) running the house. As we’ve long been told “ you only have one chance at a first impression”. Unfortunately this was not a good one. And oh what an assortment of fabulous options there were on the restaurant week selections.

We’re really not picky but it seems to have gone through some changes recently with drastic consequences. Pretty bad experience today with mains taking 1.5 hours to arrive and out of sort. Front of the house (single waiter but trained more as a bus boy) missed a lot of the basics: knowing the menu, confusing suggestions, not setting expectations, refilling water, missing/wrong orders. Back of the house staff (single cook?) seemed to be unapologetically overwhelmed, unfriendly. Tipped normally as it seems like an ownership/management issue.

Truly enjoyed the surf & turf w/lobster tail & filet! AND the Blackberry Martini w/vodka & Germaine was yummy!

Fantastic Seafood restaurant on Mamaroneck Ave. The Branzino was flavorful, calamari was tasty, paella was a solid choice. Would definitely eat here again!

First time trying this place, pictures looked amazing, food LOOKED AMAZING. ZERO TASTE, zero flavor. First off, ordered a side of spaghetti which was $15! Noodles were covered in butter water, cup of sauce tasted canned with a splash of someone’s cologne.
Ordered salmon, again, looked beautiful, missing lemon, salt, a dash of any seasoning.
Never in my life had a fried shrimp that tasted like nothing, it didn’t even taste like oil! And to top it off, food was cold. And no, we did not pick it up late, we got there and still had to wait for the food.

Had a wonderful dinner here with my family. Great food and service. Looking forward to going back soon.

Went for the first time for Mother’s Day and not impressed at all. The fish and chips batter was extremely thick, the Branzino was way too fishy and the vegetables were something thrown into the microwave. Maybe it was the holiday but I wouldn’t recommend for the price.

Excellent dinner. Fried shrimp, mussels, clams, perfectly prepared. We sat outside with a lovely wine on a beautiful evening. Impeccable service. This restaurant is a real find. Recommend it highly.

This a 5stars seafood restaurant that is better than city island. I strongly recommend you try it. The service is superb. You will not be disappointed.

Lovely people, very good seafood and fish at reasonable prices. II reduced the food by a star because I asked for my lobster to be steamed and it was broiled. Service excellent, unfortunately the space is a former diner. Better lighting would go a long way to improve the atmosphere.

Went here with the family not really sure what to expect but it turned out wonderful and delicious. Food was hot and tasty with ample portions. Prices seemed a little high but the quality and portion size justified it. We will definitely go back and I would highly recommend it being a chef myself.

Visited the new location after being a fan of the smaller space they were in. Service was exceptional! The food was good. The lobster bisque had juicy pieces of lobster and clam chowder was creamy & full of seafood. The octopus salad was small but yummy. Leaving wanting more of the octopus.

Enjoyed the food and the staff was attentive. The cherrystones we're fresh and the oyster Po-boy with the spicy aeoli was very good.

I had an excellent meal here at Harbour Fish Restaurant. From the outside, it doesn't look like much but the seafood was fresh and you could tell immediately the chef knows what he's doing. I had ordered the scallops with shrimp and everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. The price is also very reasonable!

Nice to have a good local restaurant. As I don't eat fish, the menu is limited for me.

I love this restaurant. Great happy hour, great seafood and friendly service! Will be visiting frequently.
