I’m changing this review from a 1 to 4. I received the shelf. Although my initial experience was negative, as shown below, after some discussion with the owner of Hardtwood, they followed through. The live edge shelf arrived well-packaged, and looks very nice. The mounting system is solid, low-profile, and easy to attach. Photo attached.

It takes a lot for me to leave a negative review. I’ll usually leave a business a positive review or no review at all. I also do custom work myself, so I try to be patient and understanding when the shoe is on the other foot. But I feel that a negative is definitely warranted for Hardtwood Custom Woodworks.

I ordered a live edge shelf from them on 7/14. When I ordered, the website gave an estimate of approx 1 week (I think it said 5 days at that time) to ship for that particular item. After 2 weeks and no shipment or updates, I replied to my order confirmation email to check status (like it says to do). No answer. Another attempt via replying to the order confirmation email. No answer. I then used their website contact page to ask for status. Got a reply that my order would ship that week (which would be 3 weeks after I placed my order, and 2 weeks more than the shipping estimate was when I placed my order). No big deal…like I said, I do custom work too, so I understand delays happen. That week went by, no shipping. So I gave them a few more days, and after not hearing anything, I used the website contact page to ask again for shipment status. Again, was told that my order would ship “that week”…which was now the following week. “That week” went by, and again no shipment. I Gave them awhile again before following up through the website. You guessed it…my order was going to ship “that week”.

Finally, after Hardtwood telling me 3x that my order would ship within a specific timeframe, and then failing to do so, I requested that they cancel my order and give me a refund if they weren’t going to be able to ship it it. No reply, and no refund.

So after more than 2 months of no shipping despite being told several times my order would ship “that week”, and having my request for a refund ignored, I had to involve my credit card company to get a refund, which was finalized on 10/24…3+ months after I placed my order. I have to wonder if Hardtwood is a scam outfit or just disorganized and incompetent. Either way, caveat emptor.

I ordered a live edge table for my kitchen from Kevin last month and it fits perfectly into our space - I couldn't be happier. The color was exactly spot on with what I had requested and I'm so pleased with how it all came together in the end. Kevin was easy to work with and went above and beyond to help me with my vision. The item came in a reasonable amount of time, given it's completely handmade. Would 100% recommend. Thanks again, Kevin!

Had an excellent experience using Hardtwood Custom Woodwork. There attention to detail, customer service and quality products are the reason why I will never go anywhere else. They are creative, unique and make excellent suggestions without taking away your original design/ idea. In fact they make it better. The project was completed in a timely fashion and executed perfectly. If you need any custom pieces or just conventional pieces I highly recommend Hardtwood Custom Woodwork. They do a beautiful job.

Nothing but great things to say about Kevin and Hardtwood. After ordering a few sample stain colors, we ordered a custom bar top from them, and we are extremely happy with our purchase. The quality speaks for itself and you can tell great care was put into the bar top. Will be recommending Hardtwood to everyone in my network and will be using them for all my future projects.

Amazing woodworking! Had a custom Island top made in an attempt to match a historic table. Could not have come out better. The top exceeded all of our expectations. Kevin's attention to detail was remarkable. 5 stars is not enough for the quality we received.

I will certainly be coming back to Hardtwood for any custom woodwork in the future. Kevin was great to work with and I got exactly what I wanted and it looks even better than I expected.

When I first reached out, I sent the basic shape of the table, some rough measurements, and a picture of the frame I'd be using, and Kevin was able to figure it out from there. Not too much later, my tabletop arrived and I was just in awe of it.

Unfortunately, UPS had dinged up the table, so I reached out to Kevin and got a response back in minutes. He decided the best course of action was for him to pick the tabletop up personally, fix it, and then personally deliver it. When I got the table back last week, it was perfect. Kevin told me he had inspected it several times and it showed!

It's always a bit of a risk to try out a new online vendor. Sometimes you get the product you want and then never need to do business with with them ever again. And then sometimes you have an experience like I had where you find a company like Hardtwood which is willing to go above and beyond to make sure you're happy.

I'll be coming back and will be sending anyone I know who needs custom woodwork.

We could not be happier with our table, and have received nothing but compliments from folks who see it. We chose walnut, and went with a 2-1/2 inch thickness, and absolutely love the finished product. We debated for a long time about whether we'd prefer smooth, finished edges or a true "live edge" with bark, and are very pleased with the smooth finish. Kevin was great to work with, and the table is the centerpiece of our open concept kitchen and living area.
