Amazing tour!
It’s not your average touristic tour and I absolutely loved that!
Neal knows everything there is to know about Harlem and its CRM history. He’s been living here his whole life which made this experience even more relatable and - due to his great sense of humor - also very very fun.
An absolute must if you’re interested in visiting another neighborhood besides Manhattan and Brooklyn:)

My mother-in-law and I did this tour on Sunday 4th June, together with another 20 people. It was great! Neil is part of the Harlem community, knows everyone, and is very passionate and knowledgeable. The community at the Church welcomed us for a fantastic church service and gospel, and we didn't have to wait in line outside thanks to the fact we were with Neil. If you want a great experience, book with Harlem Heritage, you won't regret it!

What a fascinating tour. Great history to hear about Harlem and civil rights history in New York City. Definitely worth an afternoon.

We booked the tour and then were not notified that it was cancelled. We then requested a refund but did not receive the money. I will remove this review once our money has been returned.

Booked a tour through TripAdvisor and had difficulties finding the starting point but found someone else in the same boat and turns out we were in the right place.

Was confused at first by Neil as I thought he was some random homeless guy off the streets based on his attire on the day, but appearances were deceptive, and he was a very engaging, eccentric, and knowledgeable tour guide.

We had a wander through all the historical spots in and around Harlem, and it was interesting to find out about the new wave of African immigrants as we strolled through the market. We saw Neil’s mum from her kitchen window too, hi aunty! Learned something new, great for the soul.

Do not book with him. We were given the wrong time for the tour. Neil asked us to return later that day, we could not due to traveling that afternoon. I requested a refund and he agreed. I followed up with an email and with a message on his website. No response. I had to go through my bank in order to get my money back. He’s a scam! Find another company to book your tour.

A fantastically informative and authentic experience.

We are a four-person family who wanted a real Harlem experience presented by someone from Harlem… and Neal delivered.
I don’t know if there is another guide, but he provided a great time walking through the streets of Harlem in, as he puts it: “the footsteps of Malcolm X and Dr. King. ”
We enjoyed an authentic church ceremony from a local perspective and walked the streets of Harlem, being educated on the periodic architecture and complex history.
Furthermore, Neal asked the group at the beginning what our interests in Harlem were and he effectively tailored the presentation and educational elements to these interests and questions as well as interlinking them

We had a great morning in Harlem and could not recommend these tours more for an authentic time in this historic location.
