Bar Harper's reviews
15The food here is just outstanding. The burger is intensely flavorful, the pastas are always excellent. The room is charming, with a gastro-pub vibe. And they make a killer Mezcal Last Word. Kudos to Chef Chris and his wife Michelle!
We had an excellent dinner this past Friday night. Had the smoked trout dip with their home made chips. Dinner - the pappardelle, the pork chop with out of this world mushrooms and a side of fries. Staff was great, place was packed. Great bar and great vibe.
I used to love eating here so much. I went recently after not going for almost a year. I was so excited to eat my burger. I ordered one medium well burger and one medium rare burger. The medium well was super red. The medium rare was one was basically rare. I ended up cooking them again since I did take out. I’m disappointed in the experience and feel like I wasted money.
Advertise best bloody Marys in Westchester yet they didn't have any, strike one also advertise grill octopus didn't have it, strike 2 advertise beef short ribs didn't have any. Smelled like a local old man's bar. Do not recommend this place. Way over priced no atmosphere very drab.
Let's start with the most important part - the food is absolutely delicious! The menu is updated often, but you can taste the passion that goes into making the food. The appetizers are a nice way to prepare for the main course - we had the clams which were prepared to perfection. I had the beef cheeks which were a new addition to the menu - they absolutely melted in my mouth and released the flavor within. (Don't worry if you don't eat meat, there are non-meat, but delicious options.) The service was quick and attentive.
But don't forget desert. There are a number of options and all were tasty.
I have been here a few time. Food and service have always been great, but I specifically am giving this review because today was my first time having their brunch and holy moly! Best French toast I’ve ever had in my life. I don’t know what they do to it but I know that it’s a thick piece of Colon bread they marinade it then they fry it and butter the outside is buttery and crisp and the inside is like an absolute dream. It’s warm, gooey, pillowy! Mine came topped with a fresh whipped cream and they give you a side of syrup but I swear you absolutely not need it this thing is decadent. Order it you won’t be sorry!
The trough was absolutely unreal. Cooked amazingly. Cute location with outdoor patio but really loved the trout. Defs recommend
So delicious! The challah French toast with the fresh fruit and whipped cream was absolutely amazing! Accompanied by some bacon and a sandia mia (their watermelon tequila drink) which were both really good.
The backyard garden was very pretty - very green with hanging vines. Was a very cool, laid back vibe:) can’t wait to come back!
Best brunch I’ve had since moving to Westchester two years ago. Fab cocktails, adorable patio seating, excellent service. We’ll be back in short order!
Love the Vibe here pretty outdoor back garden the bartender Kevin sweet patient and a great mixologist great looking cocktails food was delicious.enjoy
Always friendly. Always tasty. Worthy of being in any Rivertown Ray of Sunlight's regular rotation.
Went for brunch and the food was delicious. Try the trout dip - so good. $30 mimosa carafe was also good. Felt the inside needed some work and the wait staff a little more professional.
Excellent Sunday brunch. Had the mushroom toast and it was outstanding. Black coffee was fresh and smooth.
Unfriendly staff / unwelcoming. Pasta was room temperature at best. Dessert came with hair on top and waitress didn't apologize at all (although did remove form the bill). Not enjoyable. Hadn't been here in 3 years. Wont be back.
Harper's is one of the best restaurants in the Rivertowns and possibly all of Westchester. The food is consistently really good and inventive, changing with the seasons. One of the coolest atmospheres that we've found in the area as well, dimly lit and neatly curated, and a cozy back patio in the warmer months. The cocktail bar and the staff at this place are also fantastic. Top notch.
