Harriet Hollister Spencer State Recreation Area reviews
20Great place to walk with an iconic view that you've probably seen. Just an FYI about the road down to the picnic area if you plan to walk since we just learned this. It is packed dirt with decent sized stones, which means not stroller friendly as I had thought, and also you want slightly thicker shoes.
Went on a hike with two of my employees. Nice trails and not too difficult for a kid either.
This place is great for mountain biking, hiking, snowshoeing and picnic. I went with my toddler and it was a fun walk for her. The view is pretty nice, too.
Excellent place to go cross country skiing for free since the trails are groomed and maintained by the Rochester XC Ski Foundation. Good range of trail difficulty levels and enough route options that it doesn't get old.
It's also a good point for snowmobiles to access a large network of trails (almost all separate from the ski trails except for the main road). This is good news for snowmobilers, I suppose, but bad news for the rest of us who prefer to enjoy the woods without the smells and sounds of howling engines.
Harriet Hollister is an excellent place for all sorts of outdoor activities. Beautiful views of Honeoye Lake and surrounding Forest. Easy to get to from Rochester and surrounding areas.
This park is FREE to use and enjoy, there are picnic areas and recreation areas for kids games and sports and most of all has the most beautiful view of the Honeoye Valley and lake.
It is a great place for a picnic. They have table's but I don't see any grills. It's dense with pine trees and is probably a fire hazard. The bathrooms are holes under the seat in one set of bathrooms. There is another bathroom at the upper area where the picnic tables are. Quiet place when we went. It is a good place to bike ride on the trails.
Very nice park. Very quiet with many trails for walking or biking. Awesome view of Honeoye Lake
Great for cross country skiing, but a little hilly and hard to navigate with snowmobiles. Still worth the winter scenes!
Great view of Honeyoe Lake. From the bench. Also plenty of trails to hike or mountain bike
This place has a little bit of something for everyone, especially a view. Been coming here since I was a kid. I can only imagine the stories the old apple orchard could tell.
Great views of the lake and nice trails through the forest! Went in the winter where the ground was covered in snow but it was very packed down which made hiking a breeze. They also split the main trail to the overlook into a hiking and a ski section if you are interested in cross country skiing. Overall a great hike and a wonderful payout with the amazing view!
Beautiful place. Groomed trails for xc skiing. Two restrooms open in winter. Varied terrain.
Nice hike to the overlook. Believe it or not. This area was the only hill with snow.
It was a couple of inches worth.
Incredible venue for any outdoor enthusiast!
Currently the RXCF does track setting for Nordic Skiing. Situated 1100 ft elevation over Honeye Lake with a direct view of downtown Rochester from 35 miles away. Summer provides excellent mountain biking, hiking, and equestrian trail riding. Parking, restrooms, and picnic tables provided. All for FREE!
There is a shelter at the top of the gravel road with a bathroom near by. The last time I went there the area was full of beer bottles and some sick animal meaning person crapped on top of the picnic table not more than 15 feet from the bathroom. Haven't gone there since.
On a clear summer day, this is an astounding View. In the fall, it's even better. The ride via a seasonal - Road, unpaved, can be tricky.
Always fun hiking around the trails here, especially in the fall. The views of Honeoye Lake are simply spectacular. Great for families with young children and people with dogs.
What an awesome area for hiking and enjoying the outdoors. Trails are fantastic and the views of Honeoye cant be beat.
Worst marked trails I've ever been on. Nature was beautiful but plan on getting lost. Good project for a Boy Scout troup to mark the trails. Just need a can of spray paint
