Harro East Ballroom, Rochester NY

Just had my wedding here this past weekend. Mary Kay was great in helping us plan out the day. I lost track of the number of guests who had positive comments to say about the food. I would definitely recommend the Harro East Ballroom!

We were there for a General Hospital Event. It was a great venue! All decorated for Christmas! Very pretty!

Went to a friend's reception here. Beautiful venue, the buffet food was mediocre, was cold by the time my table went up. The staff seemed to rush the timeline. It was around 9pm and a staff member took all of the glass drinking glasses leaving a stack of plastic cups, which is fine, however, my date had just filled the glass and had just set it down and it was took right after without the chance of relocating the water into a plastic cup. The bathrooms are very old. Other than that, very nice venue, the music was incredibly loud, but do not take that out on the venue, just make sure you pick a band or dj that knows how to handle such a large, old building.

June 12th was one of the best days of my life! I owe so much gratitude to MaryKay and the Harro East Ballroom. MaryKay went above and beyond to make sure everything from the ceremony to the reception was absolutely perfect. With getting married there, I am so glad I didn't need to spend money on a day of coordinator, the Harro provided a coordinator and all of the help I needed! After having our original wedding date canceled due to covid, everyone was so understanding and supportive with changing plans, and going with the flow of state mandates changing, all while keeping my vision in mind and reassuring me everything would work out this time. To say it all worked out is an understatement. Everything was perfect, it was beautiful (have you ever seen how big and elegant this room is? !), and the day-of schedule made for us was on target for everything. I also have to give compliments to the in-house chef, food was delicious. Only thing I wish differently is that it lasted longer because it certainly was a dream come true!

Not a bad venue, very dated and we felt rushed though the night. The servers took everyones glasses and replaced them with plastic cups without telling anyone. We were very confused what they were doing. Kitchen was loud during announcements also.

This place is more than just beautiful, it is a whole experience of amazing! If you're looking to make that special moment in your life more memorable, this little gem has got you covered!

Mary Kay is the MVP of all wedding things in Rochester. From our first meeting we knew we were in great hands. She was our go-to resource to recommend our vendors and kept us up to date on all the changing COVID rules. We didn’t have to worry about a single thing the day of. The ballroom was absolutely perfect for a socially distanced party! Everyone felt safe and still had a blast! Choosing Harro East was the best decision we could have made for our wedding!

The Harro East turns dreams into nightmares. They canceled our wedding reception three (3) days before the wedding. They refused to open for 25 people, stating they wouldn’t make any money. They told us we had to pick another date. They then stopped all communication. We requested a refund due to the breach of contract. They have not responded. Here is a direct quote from the email we received three days before the wedding (their typos, not mine).

“At this point, you will need to pick a new wedding / party date with us. We can not open for 20 - 25 people. It will cost us way to much and God forbid if anyone gets sick, we will be highly fined, possibly lose our liquor license and also possibly sued. If you have been reading the articles and watching the news, this keeps happening everywhere. Also, my boss has put a lot of time and money into reopening the Harro East Ballroom, and we can mot afford the bad press and fines. ”

As you can see, this was not a shutdown. They refused to hold our reception. This was after they contacted us and told us we would have to reduce our guest list from 50 to 20. We were engaged for 18 months. If you’re reading this, I’m sure you know how important this day is for the entire family. We will always think of this experience on our wedding anniversary. Who would do this to someone? What kind of business turns dreams into nightmares? Harro East, that’s who.

After finding the ballroom, I love the architecture and I loved the food, and I loved the hospitality of the staff. Thank you for a lovely time.

Horrible parking, mediocre food served. Good sized bathrooms but poor staffing and dated interior. Personally, there are better options for event space in the same price point. Stage in front should be removed, gives the appearance of a high school gym.

Beautiful venue and wonderful atmosphere make this place a wonderful spot to host balls, parties, anniversaries, etc. This ballroom is a spectacular venue to use for all you events

I had fun here but the food was not to several people liking. Some were still cold not much flavor.

The AKOMA luncheon was fabulous! The food was out of this world! Chicken cooked to perfection and flavorful! The pasta and crab salad, absolutely DELICIOUS! Rigitoni, fantastic! Dessert, WOW! COFFEE, SMOOTH, just the way I like it. GREAT JOB HARRO EAST!

My son just had his wedding there this weekend and the place was amazing beautiful and everything that I was hoping for

HOLY COW! Inside of this place Is beautiful with lots of room and an upper section as well. Honestly I had no idea this place existed until my cousin just got married and it was a great venue. DOWNSIDE, very limited in the bathrooms so keep that in mind.oh and parking

We've held several events here. Always accommodating. Professional staff. Delicious food. No complaints!
