Heart of Brooklyn Veterinary Hospital - Flatbush

I never write reviews but I’m pretty upset about this and felt like pet owners should be aware

The first 2 times I brought my dog here, I thought they went well — the vet was great. This time, I brought my dog in because I suspected he had an ear infection and it was another vet who I hadn’t interacted with before. It was honestly pretty obvious even with the naked eye to see that he had abnormal amounts of dark debris in his ear. He was really anxious but they proceeded with the exam and “swabbed” his ears (without looking or examining the inside of his ear) — then told me there was no sign of an ear infection. I was very suspect of this but decided to believe the vet.

My dog’s ears continued to get worse until
I finally decided to get a second opinion. This vet immediately stated he had a pretty severe ear infection that didn’t need a microscope to see. Of course it’s probably worse than it was 2 weeks ago when I came here but I still saw with my own eyes the buildup in his ears at that point and suspected an ear infection so it’s bizarre to me that they sent me home telling me he didn’t have one. And still charged me for the full price of an exam and cytology.

Great vet. Never feel like I’m being rushed for an appointment and they process refills quickly

The office employees at this vet office are unorganized and incompetent. Not only are their staff difficult to deal with, the prices here are too high and how the office explains their cost structure is not clear. We set up an appointment for our 2 dogs on 12/23. They got their puppy vaccines and wellness exam. They asked us to bring in a stool and urine sample and have yet to receive the results as of today January 8. We also asked them to put both parents' names on the office records/copies of the invoices and they said they cannot change it? They had computer issues that did not allow them to email us the itemized list of what was administered for them that day. Then never followed up with us on sending us the updated copies. We've had to call them several times to get the updated invoice and stool/urine sample results and kept being told 24-48 hours after our call. If you're going to this vet because it's convenient for you due to the location, try another vet. There are other options that are more affordable and organized.

Just moved to New York recently and we absolutely loved our experience getting our dog set up with Heart of Brooklyn in Flatbush. They took amazing care of our dog and we’re excited to have them as our established vet here. Thank you for treating Zhi so sweet!

Great experience. The Dr.was very kind and took care of my dog right away.receptionist was kind and the place was clean. The entire staff was great.

The best vet group. Dr. Higgins cured my rescue of her heartworm. Even after leaving BK, I travel back for HOBK.

I have been bringing my 5-year-old cat to the clinic since they opened, and I have had nothing but pleasant and supportive experiences with Heart of Brooklyn. The staff is kind and compassionate, and have demonstrated time and time again that they really care about the well-being of my kitty.

Very friendly and informative staff. They had lots of patience with Bunny and made him as comfortable as possible. I am very happy to have vet so close to home.

They don't help or accommodate for walk in appointments. They just do the bare minimum.

I really love this place. Dr. Wolf and the vet tech (unfortunately forgot her name) were SO nice and informative! They made me feel very comfortable, answered all of my questions, and laid out all of my options. Seriously a wonderful place to go. Thanks for taking such great care of my son

We bounced around to a few vets before finding Heart of Brooklyn Flatbush. If you have cats who need to be neutered or spayed, this vet is highly professional compared to others. I felt A LOT safer taking my cats here, and the experience was so different (Never ever go to Pet Haven). They have a process to examine the cat prior to surgery to ensure that a cat is healthy enough to be neutered. They explain all of the potential charges before any services are done. You don't have to ask.

Moved to the area almost a year ago and have brought my cat in twice now for an introductory checkup and then a more thorough one. All the staff and two different veterinarians i saw were friendly, kind, professional, and explained everything to me. More importantly, they were very patient and gentle with my cat, who absolutely freaks out when in foreign environments/meeting new people.like, she will try to end you.anyways the vets took it slow with her, didn’t push her past her comfort level, and found ways to work around her fear. It was pretty impressive tbh. I’ve only had positive experiences here despite the stress that is taking my cat to the vet. Would definitely recommend this place.

I’ve been coming here since moving to Brooklyn in 2021 and the quality of care continues to improve. I’m so appreciative of the staff for being patient and accommodating of my pittie’s fear & reactivity. Having experienced so much breed prejudice elsewhere, I’m grateful to have found a safe space for her. The staff is always responsive via phone or email, they show genuine care and concern for her well-being even if she’s not the friendliest, and their prices are very fair. Really glad we found HOBK, they’ve made my life with my goodest girl so much better.

We just had our first visit to the clinic, and had a great experience. The staff is super sweet and professional, the place is friendly and clean, the prices are absolutely reasonable.
I’m glad we found a local vet practice, where I happily will take my dog again. Thank you for making it so smooth and easy for us!
