Truly a wonderful park. A bit small, but it's well maintained. They have a large pond and keep it clean of all trash. Unfortunately, the ducks and geese lay poop everywhere. It's got a grassy area to sit, a big playground for kids, a small music amphitheater, walking areas, a water fountain, an art exhibit museum, and more. They host music events in the summer almost every day. Great park in the heart of Huntington, close to the village. It's a great place to walk your dog around the area, have a nice picnic for a few friends, bring the kids to play at the playground, take some photos, or just relax. Plenty of geese, ducks, turtles, and birds to watch or take photos of.

What can I say as someone who grew up in this town and raised a family this is Huntington's Central Park. World class museum that is a hidden treasure. Ballfields, tennis courts great playground for kids. The beautiful pond stocked with fish and ducks allows for a retreat on any day of the year. Home to the Harry Chapin Rainbow stage where I have enjoyed many performances with friends and family. Honoring a man known just as much for his philanthropic ahd hunger activism as for his music. Last but not least it had been a long while that I strolled through the park and came across the 911 Tribute garden dedicated to those from Huntington who lost their lives on that days tragic attacks on the WTC Towers. No words that can describe except peaceful. I hope peace is what it brings to the families and this world.

Heckshire Park is such a nice respite and just north of town. Keep an eye out for the hugh female turtles that live beneath the pier. Their shells are over 3' long from their neck to their tail. Enjoy.

Beautiful place for anyone to enjoy! Lots of wildlife and it's dog friendly. Loved the huge Koi fish in the pond along with the turtles. Highly recommend!

One of the finest medium sized parks on Long Island.

The park has a lot going for it. It has a very well maintained lake and grounds. The paths wind attractively inter-meshed with little rivers where ducks and a bus-load of turtles (in the warmer weather) play.

The focus of the park is on the wildlife and giving it a place to flourish, but there are other things too like tennis, baseball and a large field. A proper set of bathrooms are available as well as a concert stage and a nice grass area for outdoor events.

All of this is intermixed with professionally done flowers and shrubs that would give a botanical garden a run for it's money.

There is a attractive 9/11 memorial waterfall and a museum! (Did i mention this is a nice place.)

If you have young kids there is a large area with different things for them to do. The flooring is nice and soft.

It has been my experience that many of the park's local attendees are invested in the health and safety of the wildlife, so if your young kid starts messing with turtles, or running after the ducks, that's not going to go over too good. To me that's a plus.

There's a good amount of parking around the lake, usually plenty to handle the number of people there but it's spread out. Just be aware, you'll likely be fine unless there's a big event there.

Overall, This is in my top 2 parks on Long Island, and I've been to many of them.

This is a great park to bring the kiddos. Lots of room to walk around, many options and it had soft rubber padding on the playground. Old issues I saw was the rubber and playground need some maintenance attention. Furthermore, the restrooms were closed and they had porter johns out that fell over in the wind. All in all not bad.

I take my kids here to play on the playground and we always walk around the pound. Love this park I’ve been coming for years.

Your eyes are drawn to the expansive green lawn that stretches out before you, inviting you to take a leisurely stroll or find a cozy spot for a picnic. Towering trees provide shade, their branches swaying gently in the breeze, offering respite from the warm sun. The well-maintained pathways meander through the park, beckoning you to explore its hidden corners.

As you walk deeper into the park, you come across a picturesque pond that sparkles under the sunlight. Ducks glide gracefully across the water, creating a serene ambiance. The pond is adorned with water lilies and surrounded by benches, where visitors can sit and appreciate the tranquil scene or feed the ducks, if they wish.

This is great kid friendly park. My daughter always loves to go around the lake and spot ducks, geese and turtles. She gradually gets to the play area and just stays there till we feel cold and decide to leave. This is a great park with all the facilities

It’s so pretty but there are so many bugs (you can actually see them in the pictures) we are visiting in spring so it is the season but the pools of water make it worse.
The bridge is uncrossable and actually a bird sanctuary which is quite nice. Be safe the geese.

Beautiful little spot, can be a little noisy around high traffic times, great for a cup of coffee mid day, check out the website for events

Probably my favorite park on Long Island. Beautiful scenery, lots of wildlife such as turtles, swans, geese, etc. Great playground for kids with safety locks on gates.

This is really a well maintained park in Huntington. Large pond and the paved pathway around the pond is amazing for jogging. The area is spacious and so clean. There is a big playground for the kids. Benches are around the pond and that area is so scenic. It’s like a picture. We went there on September and I heard that the park is beautiful in every season. Definitely going back in winter too.

Adding more: Beautiful tulips in end of April and beginning of May. Wonderful!
