Japanese Restaurant Hirohisa reviews
19 Their staff are very nice and professional, but the food is…meh…the sea urchin is def not fresh, very bitter. One type of fish tastes way too sour.
Good price for a lunch but I hope they could maintain their quality.
Uni soba sooo goooood
Very fresh sea urchin from Japan Hokkaido, being sweet
Ikura is a bit salty but also very fresh.
I prefer the noodles than the rice, especially for the spring/summer
I also ordered the pickup black truffle ice cream 10/10 forgot to take pictures but there are trucks of truffles in it while the ice cream tasted so smoothly.
Absolutely amazing food! We had the omakase menu for dinner. The ambiance was very relaxed and the service was great. The ingredients used in the food are mostly from different parts of Japan and taste special. Would recommend this experience to everyone.
I know every significant Japanese restaurant in New York, and this restaurant offers the best Japanese style food in New York. Clearly #1. It is a tough reservation and show up on time.
An amazing omakase experience in an elegant and calming environment, with exceptional service throughout. We were surprised by the range of dishes that utilized uni, and everything was fresh and bursting with flavor.
I recently had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant. Every dish was bursting with flavor and managed to incorporate umami without overpowering the individual tastes of the ingredients. My standout dish was the onsen egg with uni, yuba, and black truffle - a truly exquisite combination. The service was exceptional too; the staff went above and beyond to make my birthday dinner unforgettable. As a surprise, they even brought out a complimentary piece of cake to celebrate the occasion. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for its outstanding food, attentive service, and overall wonderful dining experience.
Been there previously for dinner, and cane back to try their lunch. Nearly as good, and quite a bit cheaper. Highly recommended!
Great omakase style experience. The twist was definitely the soup items which were very very good. Lots of uni toppings and here and there extras made it a good experience. No whiskey options though. Only wine and sake
This was the best food my mouth has ever touched. Breathtaking experience. Umaiii! Thank you very much
Don’t go if you don’t speak Japanese. Extremely difficult to communicate with them in English. Thus the experience is so bad.
Slow. Reserve 2-2.5 hrs for the meal.
Portion is okay, definitely not generous, but gave three complimentary snacks. Taste is a bit too salty, but generally ok. Service is kind of nice. Price is ok, 180$ menu and we ended up spending ~250 pp.
Nobu price, mcdonald's happy meal portion size, convenience store Sashimi quality. I think I summed it up pretty well.
The food quality is awful. The Uni and sashimi are not fresh at all. I can spend $50 for a Japanese buffet better than this! Crazy bad experience!
The food is really bad, and they’re not fresh. I can find better options in NYC which is similar price. Awful experience in this restaurant.
We joined the white truffle event. $700/person with forced 20% tip? Paid in advance.
Can you believe this amount of money cannot even make us full? We have to go k-town to eat another meal!
The food ingredients are very repetitive - mostly just eggs and truffle butter topping (you can see from pictures that has a yellow topping) Needs about 3 hours to serve 9-course? So slow!
The food also does not worth $700.
I am definitely very disappointed. Japanese restaurants like this one in NYC are so overpriced and overrated.
The worst omakase experience ever. The waitress is so rude. Open the other bottle of water without asking us. (we are almost done with our meal). The food is soo salty. Don’t waste you money here.
Everything’s good (I do hope they can put more uni in the uni bowl.) Personal favorite was this very refreshing bowl.
I came here quite a few times before but this was my first time to try their dinner course. Each dish tasted wonderful and even though the course was expensive it was worth every penny. I visited with two other friends and they were all impressed. I highly recommend Hirohisa to anyone who wants to try authentic Japanese kaiseki experience. Many of my favorite restaurants near Soho closed permanently during covid and I'm glad Hirohisa survived. I will definitely comeback.
Food incredible. However we were kicked out by Chef Hirohisa himself. We had ordered an extra app and an extra round of drinks, both of which were agreed to by the staff, without letting us know our time limit was up. If our time was up, why let us order extra? The service itself was great until Chef himself rudely asked us to leave. Do not recommend.
