Holiday Inn Express New York City - Chelsea, an IHG Hotel reviews
15Almost perfect. Location, prices, service, kindness. The only observations are regarding the size of the breakfast space, very small, and the cleanliness of the room, where we found a covid mask behind the bedside table. But I will return in peace.
Stayed here for 3 nights the past week and it exceeded my expectations. The ease of checking in and the friendliness of the staff was excellent. This was one of the cheaper places when we booked and offered free breakfast so we thought maybe it wouldn't be as nice. The rooms were small but great for the two of us. The furniture and bathrooms were NOT super outdated, CLEAN
and everything worked just fine. The breakfast was a high point. Nice spread/variety of food and drinks. Fell in love with their cinnamon rolls! If I had to say anything negative, it would just be that they didn't have hand sanitizing stations available to use by the breakfast buffet. In this day of COVID there should be a place to sanitize, especially after touching elevator buttons. We also saw quite of few people coming in off the streets to grab breakfast so sanitizing stations would be a good idea. Location was great. Subway station right around the corner. Penn station was a 5 minute walk.
The hotel is in an excellent location. Both uptown and downtown are easily accessible. Times Square and sights such as the Empire State or the Flatiron are within easy walking distance. Unfortunately, the rooms are a bit outdated and too small, especially for two people. A suitcase had to be put up in order to be able to walk through the room. Unfortunately, breakfast is located directly in the lobby and the room is too small. There are still 4 stars for the location.
I booked the Holiday Inn Express last minute after all NJ Transit service to New Jersey was canceled due to signal problems.
All I needed was a bed and a shower. This hotel barely provides that. The rooms are dingy, dated, and disgusting. My first room had paint peeling and four bugs. They relocated me to another room that also had peeling paint and the previous guest’s trash still in the bathroom trash can.
The staff were nice enough to offer me a full refund, but I can’t imagine spending a NYC hotel night’s worth for such a dreadful experience. I know Holiday Inn Express is a relatively basic hotel chain but they didn’t even provide the bare minimum.
Stay here at your own risk.
Elevator lacks high speed fan, low lighting in room, a pricey room according to space provided, nearby Amtrak, that's advantage, morning breakfast is all together sweet, good taxi coordination,
Very friendly staff. Extremely good location, when you are visiting Manhatten. Nice breakfast, although the restaurant seating space does not equal the number of guests. Rooms are tight, but in generally good conditions. Especially the beds are small (140cm wide) for two grown up men (we were 3 persons sharing 1 room). I'd go for the same hotel next time I'll visit NYC, so I hereby send my best recommendations
Firstly, we were given room 401 and when we entered the room, there were people in the room. It caused a lot of embarrassment. Went down to get another room and got 517. The receptionist said the manager will send a complimentary package to our door for the inconvenience but did not receive anything. The door for 517 was bent and could see the outside even when door was closed. The room had a very disturbing odor. The AC unit was disgusting. When the air conditioning was on it kept spitting out dust from the vents. Overall it was a horrible experience due to both the staff and the condition of the room. The bed was also not clean when we got in the room at 2 am and there no one to help.
The only pro for this hotel was the location and the breakfast.
This is an average Holiday Inn Express and worked well for us. It's in a convenient location to transportation.
It's very close to Penn Station (two and a half blocks) and just one and a half blocks from the 1,2, and 3 trains, which will take you to the 42nd Street station.
The rooms do not have a refrigerator nor USB ports, both of which seem to be in most other hotels. The closet is tiny, not even fitting one's clothes on one of the 3 hangers available. These were extremely disappointing, considering the $580/night rate.
The rooms include a luggage rack, an ironing board, iron, and a hair dryer.
One very nice thing is that there is a recycling bin in the bathroom and there is a notice on the mirror that unused toiletries are "recycled" as the hotel sends them to a charity so their clients might use the products.
I would not return to this hotel.
We were a family of 4, imagine 5 suitcases, inside the tiny room with 2 large beds you have no space to walk or where to open the suitcases and let's not say the tiny closet that there is and that nothing fits at all and the bathroom I won't even tell you, little one, no, the following. The sheets are not changed every day if you are lucky once a week.
The breakfast has little variety from 6 to 10 in the morning, sometimes you have to wait to find a free table because of how small the dining room is.
Sometimes it's better to pay something more and be comfortable to sleep and rest. I wouldn't go back and neither would the area, rent more and go more to the center of New York, this area is very dirty, a lot of construction and noise from a disco.
Literally 0/5 on service and the fact that there is insanely loud base/music playing at 1: 30 with nobody at the front desk. People just walking in and out of the office downstairs. Never experienced anything like it. AWFUL.
Terrible service. In particular the lady in the evening shift on 9-10 (Heather maybe) has the worst attitude I've seen in hospitality in a very long time. The rooms are very small and uncomfortable. The breakfast is terrible.
The room was a bit too tight! There wasn't enough wiggle room with the desk and chair. Location is great though
I normally never write reviews since I find them tedious but I had to give a shout-out to Lasherne (hopefully I spelled her name right) who was working the front desk today. She was kind, empathetic, and had a great attitude despite being the only one managing the front desk all day. Somebody please give her a raise!
The location of this Hotel is excellent not far from a lot of things to do. I was there for work so no time for that. The rooms seem a bit small but are actually just right for one or 2 people. I thought I was not gonna be able to sleep because of how noisy NY can be but I was pleasantly surprised I slept as if I was out in the country nice and quiet. Customer service was awesome. Very helpful and courteous.
My biggest and only set back which is HUGE for me is that there was NO toilet paper at all what so ever in the room. Thank goodness for a brand new box of tissue. I did not notice that till it was too late.
I highly recommend this place just check all your toiletries before its too late.
