Holiday Inn New York City - Times Square, an IHG Hotel reviews
17Our room had its heating damaged. We did notify them and they were quick but they never solved the problem.
This was our first visit to this hotel. As you would expect for NYC, the room itself was really compact but functional. I was surprised by the cleanliness and it was well maintained. The only thing I did not like was the temperature of the room. There's a thermostat in the room, but I don't think they are functional. The front desk said they would have the enigeer look at our thermostat while we were out. Upon returning, the front desk said the thermostat was corrected. However, even at the highest setting, the room never got warm. We froze for the 2 days we were there.
My stay was fine. I arrived super early and they allowed me to check in hours before the official check in time. The room was small but clean and got the job done. I’m giving them 5 stars because I left my Apple Watch. I received a call the same day I checked out informing me of this. I now have my Apple Watch in my possession a day later. Kudos to honest people and great service
Very clean room, very comfortable bedding. Very friendly and helpful staff. A little lack of storage but it's not a major problem. We were on the 29th floor, no nuisance. Great location just minutes from Time Square.
Nice hotel and friendly staff, rooms are small but clean. Location is perfekt, elevators can be crowded in the morning, but they have a stairway too and a little morning workout included
Fairly small rooms, but comfortable beds and well-kept bathroom. Fabulous view of the Empire from the 32nd floor. The only flaw is 2 elevators and a wait of up to 30 minutes to get down depending on the time. Outside numerous homeless people on benches.
Updated for latest stay - we stay here often for an affordable, simple room at a great location. Paid in points (about $170) per night for a King Room With Manhattan View on a winter Friday night. They do not charge any "amenity/ resort" fees at all which is GREATLY appreciated. 5/10 minute easy walk from Penn station later, arrived at 11: 15AM. Front desk ladies (who were EXCELLENT and super helpful the whole stay) quickly got us checked in early on the 33rd floor. Room was small / typical NYC size but we are only sleeping there so not a problem. This hotel is like a tiny skinny toothpick, each floor very tight and small with about 8-10 rooms around a single 2-car elevator shaft in the middle. We had wonderful views of the river and city lights and the window even cracked open a little. There is in-room Keurig and refrigerator. Large containers of Dove push button hand soap, lotion, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner in the bathroom. The bed cover was a summer weight duvet about the texture of a sheet and had a little staining on it - basically February in NYC and you have 2 sheets to cover with. Luckily the heat and AC works good. All the rooms are pretty close to the elevator shaft which does make some banging noise as it goes up and down. They only have 2 elevators so definitely factor 15 minutes to get up and down. Overall room was quiet at night once you got used to the elevator sound (more a dull background noise not too obtrusive). Lower floors definitely get a decent amount of street noise from cars and sirens. Shower was nice and renovated and pretty hot every day. This hotel is completely safe and secure, the comments about loiters outside is complete nonsense, those reviewers must have never been in a big city before. Upon checkout, they stored our bags for us at no charge (do tip $1-2 per bag though) until the end of the day. Never had to wait more than 2-3 minutes for the elevators or to get help at the front desk. No free coffee/ water in lobby, but they will provide extra Keurig pods for your room if needed Overall in NYC it is all LOCATION and this place has it - near to Penn, Theaters, and Times Square, we would gladly stay here again!
My stay here was great. Right in timesquare around any and everything that I could possible need! My city view room was a nice touch. My only complains would be the shower stall floor. It can get very slippery from the soap being washed off. It's not a shower hose shower, so I had to change the settings on the shower head to wash the soap away to finish my shower. Also, the random ppl out front I know weren't guests just hanging around. It didn't seem safe to me. And just 1 thing I was annoyed about was the housekeeper knocking on my door 30 minutes before I was to check out, and I had a DND sign on my door handle. Why are you asking me when Im checking out in the midst of me getting my belongings together to prepare to leave! That rubbed me the wrong way! Other than that, I enjoyed my stay here and will come again my next time is NY!
Good location but not close to Times Square. Walking distance from Penn/Moynihan train station (6-7 blocks). Rooms are nice; staff very helpful.
Great view from 35th floor. The room was clean. The front desk was nice and attentive. Not dar from times square. NY Penn Station/ Madison Square Garden just a few blocks away.
I'm completely speechless, i had stayed in the holidays inn, but this one is a surprise, fist they charged me $198 to as the front desk told me, " To secure my room", my room was book over a month ago and was secure ok. So I'll be getting $198 back in 2 weeks! Second, my price was $713, and now it was $768. Suddenly, I paid over $250 for a small room. I canceled another hotel way better than this one for less than $250. I guess when you go cheap, you get screw.
Had a great 2 night stay at this hotel. Staff was outstanding and very accommodating. Great location, only 10-15 walk to Times Square and other local attractions. Will stay here again.
The lifts were a huge issue for us. For 2 of the days, 1 of the 2 lifts was out of order. Everything else was great. But be prepared to wait or use the stairs. Staff were lovely and apologetic, but there was nothing they could do. The engineer was fixing for some time. If you're quite fit, it's a perfect spot.
The hotel is clean, and the staff is friendly and kind. They will keep your suitcase if needed. There are quite a few homeless people in front of the hotel, but they never approached us. However, this area had the most homeless people I saw in NY. The real issue with the hotel is the elevator; if you leave between 8 am and around 11 am, be prepared to wait for a crowded elevator, forcing you to use the stairs. My room had “a view of Manhattan”, but it was the front view of the hotel (which is in Manhattan, lol). Don't necessarily expect to see the Empire State from your room!
Good morning
I would like to know if you ask for a service fee in addition to the price per night at the end of your stay
Thanking you
The hotel is very well located, the rooms are too small, it is clean, however you spend the time waiting for the assessor we paid $360 for two nights (2 adults and 2 children)
Hotel overall was okay its not the best and its not horrible. Location wise it was in a great area close to Times Square and Bryant Park. Great food options and very diverse so you're bound to find something for everyone.
The only downsides were the rooms were extremely small. Stayed in a room with 4 adults and 4 suitcases and it was a very tight squeeze. Barely had any room to move around let alone actually open our suitcases without placing them on the bed each time.
Bathroom was a decent size and shower was a good size as well. Housekeeping did well in coming by and tiding up the room every day and were very friendly.
Last day we were here one of the elevators stopped working and it was horrendous trying to get down to the lobby from the top floors. Took almost an hour to get down and the elevator kept stopping at every floor with people being more and more upset that they couldn't get in to go down. Even when they were both working it was awful trying to get down any time of the day. They are extremely small and no where near the size they should be for the amount of floors in this hotel.
Also did not enjoy having to avoid all the beggers/addicts in the front of the hotel. It was nice that they had security in the lobby but I would rather not see people shooting up right outside where I'm staying. Hated going out after the sun went down because it seemed like there were always more people out there and didn't always feel the safest going out there. Most of them seemed harmless but I did encounter a few people on the street that were aggressive and yelling at people passing by. I understand that the area is open to the public but even if there was a cop or security outside keeping an eye out maybe it would have made me feel better about the hotel.
Overall the hotel is okay if you're not too picky but I don't think I would recommend it or stay here again honestly. There seems to be better hotels near by.
