Hotel Nyack - JDV by Hyatt reviews
17 Great Hotel! The staff is polite, kind, and helpful. The building is marvelous, the high ceilings increase the feeling of spaciousness. The bar is fun and managed by a delightful staff, and an evening drink is a nice treat, especially with those vouchers you receive upon checking in. The pool is much better than in most hotels, most importantly, the water is clean! You can rinse by the pool and there are bathrooms right there. The lounges are super comfortable from which getting up is much of a task. Often you can enjoy live music at the bar and during other times you might just stumble across fun events like film festivals.
The gym is equipped more than adequately; it has a treadmill, elliptical, weights, and enough space to bounce around.
The anesthetics of the place is well thought and you will definitely appreciate the effort. In short, awesome and amazing place! All the rooms are great, but the fourth floor balconies are a veritable treat if you want to nail the place.
Lot of money for what you get. Stayed one night, $300+ for a single bed. The hallways and even the bedroom are very DARK. I was using my phone for light. They told us about "continental breakfast" which consisted of coffee, fruit water, apples and oranges. Staff was nice. But that's about it.
Had a one night staycation to enjoy the pool, drinks and food from 10am-4pm before checking in to a 1 king bed for the night. Room was trendy and clean. Only had 2 sets of towels, so no extras like I'm used to. Lighting was a bit dim in the room for when you needed to look for something. Otherwise, the room had good mood lighting. A 10 minute walk down-hill to the restaurants and shops in Nyack, so drive if you don't want to walk uphill after dinner.
Staff was friendly etc. The only problem like most places is not enough staff and service could be slow. Breakfast was very slow. The hotel itself was fine.
Is it poor design? Or intentional? Room directions are confusing. Bottom windows to see outside are blocked. Outlet on only one of the sidetable. Walls are paper thin.
Shockingly bad.like another reviewer said its a cross between a prison and a dorm room.walls are thinner than paper.obviously a huge construction defect.its like sharing your room with the nearby inhabitants.you could literally join in their conversation through the walls.its some kind of expensive bad joke of a hotel.
The restaurant was a big disappointment. Went in for a early dinner. Service was great but the food was not and overpriced. Would not recommend
Dark, trying to chic, not so clean hotel. Staff is courteous and friendly but the facility is really subpar. There is zero sound insulation between walls and ceiling/floor. You can hear every conversation around your room clearly. Had really terrible sleep. The hallway was dark but not in a good way. So far, the least pleasing Hyatt property I’ve been to.
We will have spent 11 days at this gem of a hotel. I love everything about it. The hotel is immaculate, the food is excellent and we are enjoying the guests and pool. Can’t wait to come back next year. Loved every moment
The room was filthy. Took 2 days to get floors cleaned after asking 3 times at the front desk. Never received clean towels and the trash was never picked up for 4 days. It was overflowing on the floor in my king suite. Not once was the room cleaned. Not only filthy the noise from the air conditioner was so loud it kept us up. They are the very old air conditioners. The only nice thing about the hotel is the pool. I would never recommend this hotel. Also dirty dishes were left in the hallways for days from room service. I’llt was disgusting
Hotel Nyack is a very nice place. A great place to relax and unwind. Food is delicious, staff is friendly and attentive.
Absolutely a great place. From the second you walk in, the desk persons made you feel very comfortable, and immediately at home. They both had a great sense of humor also.was here may 29-30th. Rooms very well designed, when you called down for something, they made sure you received what you asked for immediately.even at 6am
Neat hotel, lots of interesting decor, exposed ducts and brick, and very high ceilings. The restaurant menu is small but is pretty good for breakfast, dinner, or drinks. Pool area is small but chic. Gym is pretty standard, and is in a small separate building. They are located right against a 6 lane highway (3 lanes each direction). There are lots of semi trucks on this highway and it is loud all day and into the wee hours of the morning. Unless you sleep like a log, I suggest requesting a room on the side of the hotel opposite the highway. They also stock the room with all sorts of items for purchase. 2 full bottles of wine, 5 mini liquor bottles, 2 big water bottles, about 10 different kinds of snacks. Didn't bother me as a solo business traveler, but if I had kids with me it would've been a problem!
Overall it was a good stay and I'd visit again in the future.
Wonderful stay last week - Really great property with modern rooms. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Clean, neat and always fresh fruit, iced water or coffee waiting in the lobby. Pool deck designed to transport you away to another more exotic destination.
Complimentary bikes w/helmets available in the lobby for local exploring. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
I have only been here for events or event planning. The service of the front office could be more receptive. They have a bit of a volume issue and they are not so great at managing their communications. It is a great location and it has a lot of potential. The events i have been to there were very nice and the ambiance is great. Never stayed in the rooms.
Overall: contemporary interior design applied to an industrial warehouse space squeezed between a major highway and an a attractive cemetery on a hill. Ample rooms that feel like something between a S&M brothel and dark IKEA (Skulls and Rhinestones, black “leather” and gray walls)
PROs: Lobby, pool, gym, bar and restaurant look nice and staff smiled and helped us check in. Bathrooms, TV and bed work (has a very soft foam topper). Rooms include an iron and ironing board. Free bike rentals for guests
CONs: Dark and creepy (skull designs woven into the carpet and broken “diamond” rhinestone black-leather bench give the place a haunted house look. It didn’t help that our room looked out onto a cemetery (see photos). Only one chair but lots of empty wasted space. Lots of plastic furniture and fake-leather (plastic) gives an overall cheap feeling. Thin walls barely block any sound. You WILL be able to hear everyone walking down the halls, talking and opening or closing doors (*click *clink *slam).
This is about the restaurant and bar.
I've been there twice.
Servers are rude
Management acts afraid of them probably because they can't find good employees
