House On Chase Creek reviews
12 Our first stay on Shelter Island at the House on Chase Creek and it was a great choice. The location on the creek is beautiful with Adirondack chairs and a hammock to enjoy the view. The front porch offers a two person swing along with other seating. We had room #3 (out of 4 upstairs) which was not large, but not surprising for an old house. It was clean, had a ceiling fan, and window air conditioner (we left windows open). The private bath was fine with a nice hot shower area. Bill, the inn keeper was friendly and very laid back. There was limited breakfast options offered with a Keurig for coffee. We had already planned to go out to breakfast so it was not an issue for us. Bill also kindly showed us the first floor room which was a suite with a living area, fireplace, small fridge, tv, separate bedroom, a nice bathroom, and a little patio. There’s enough parking for all the guests rooms and walking distance to a few stores and restaurants. It was a very relaxing overnight stay.
We would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful setting, quiet and serene. Bill is a caring, engaged innkeeper who maintains a clean property. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a large bathroom. Great place for a weekend getaway.
Do not stay here.
We booked a room at the House on Chase Creek to get away for a few days during the pandemic. It was a tough time and my partner and I needed a calm, quiet place where I could continue to meet with my clients via teletherapy. We were disappointed when we found that our room did not have a tub as we had requested. When my partner asked the owner, Bill, if we could to switch to a room with a tub, Bill began yelling at him and insisting that he had given us the room we requested. After some arguing he then apologized and said he was testy because he was having some personal issues with his family member-but the obvious lack of "quiet calm" made us want to leave. Not to mention, Bill said that he was "totally booked" but we were the only guests there. After nerves had cooled, Bill agreed to offer a 100% refund of our stay. He printed a false refund receipt and we went on our way to a much friendlier place. However, we have not received a penny of the $1,000+ deposit.
It was our fault for paying upfront; no well-run establishment should do this and I have never in all my travels stayed at an inn or hotel that asks for full payment upon booking.
As an aside, the rooms are outdated. The beds and linens need refreshing. The whole place could use a renovation.
This is a laid back, very quiet place. Our room and bed were quite comfortable. Bill was informative about where to dine and go around the island. The creekside setting is tranquil all on its own. Easy walk to a cafe, wonderful old houses to see, and water views. We will definitely consider returning.
The House on Chase Creek was comfy and cozy, overlooking a pond. Bill, the proprietor had good recommendations for dining
My boyfriend and I had a relaxing time. We recommend it for a weekend getaway or for during the week as well.and told is about Silver Beach.

Bill the owner is a very nice guy. The entire process was very simple. The room was neat and nice and the area is really beautiful. Can easily walk to the ferry too. Definitely recommend! Don't book on air bnb because you'll have to pay more!
Great small inn located near the North Ferry in front of a lovely pond. The rooms were well-appointed with nice linens and a large comfy bed. The wifi was strong. I appreciated the free tea and coffee available all day long. The innkeeper was very friendly. My only regret is that I couldn't stay longer. I highly recommend.
The room was very tiny I understand that it was Covid so no breakfast was served the front door there was no lock on it you could lock your room door but I was very uncomfortable with no lock on the front door and whoever owns the place or manages it wasn’t even there to welcome us and didn’t even stop in for the two days we were there I would not recommend this place even for the money it wasn’t worth it
This place was absolutely amazing. It was very clean and Bill was a fantastic host. Definitely coming back
This place is much better then a 2 star hotel! Bill was an amazing host I recommend staying there for an extended weekend! This island is a hidden gem! Amazing for easy access to sunset beach and public 9 hole golf course!
Very nice place to stay. The owner Bill is very welcoming and more than Happy to fill you in on the area and the best places to go. Very clean and quiet place, upgraded us at no additional cost. Highly recommend!
