Housing Works Thrift Shops - Gramercy reviews
8Reminiscent of Giant Robot, the store brings life into the once vacant Busvan block. Good collection of art books, zines, etc. (tho' some are a bit dated). Graphic tees, hoods, and other cutesy/cool stuff you don't need. Although it's a fresh addition to Clement St, I'm a bit protective of the neighborhood, so I'm a little wary. I've just had enough of bandanas and fixies.
Unfortunately my first experience was not pleasant. Not directly with the store but with a delivery man they recommended by the name of Frank. A money hungry individual who wanted to deliver a sofa bed that cost $300 and he wanted to deliver it for nearly $400. He's arrogant very unprofessional. He hung up the phone on me when I try to ask questions because he expect you to go by whatever he says. Whatever you guys do stay away from Frank pay someone else to make your delivery if you purchasing a big item.
The furniture is awesome. Designs and colors. We just ordered 2 sofas from them today. Can't wait to see them when they are ready. Deborah was a big part of why we bought our furniture here. She's warm, inviting, attentive, creative and lovely. We home the owners see how much value she adds to the store. Excited about our purchases. Will post a follow up review of furniture when we get it.
Unique items
Slightly used but brings back the good old days.
Friendly staff
Recycling at a great level.
They got me again,
stickley stuff.stuck sho'nuff
The price is plain
For a lot of fluff
Not only did I find the staff rude.
But it's a second hand shop, not Gucci!
You just have to laugh.
I honestly love Housing Works Thrift Shops but I recently had a terrible experience at Housing Works Gramercy I was very disappointed and disgusted. I was looking forward to buying a couch from Gramercy Housing Works and I asked one of the staff to help me to get information about it and the young lady was very nice and then the manager Alex interrupted and was very disrespectful and how she spoke to her staff was unpleasant made not just me but her worker uncomfortable. The staff is so nice except for the manager she needs to be fired. Actions need to be taken in this store I feel bad for those workers.
