Hudson River Recreation - Tarrytown Lakes

My son and I went Kayaking on Father's Day, my wife booked the trip for us and the whole process from booking to the end of the trip was flawless. The staff was helpful, courteous, equipment was well maintained. Parking was the only challenge, the lot by the entrance was full and the walk back from the trail parking is a bit risky. We will definitely do this again this fall.

Wonderful family-fun experience! We've done this twice now + we've loved it both times. Everyone is super nice + helpful, seamless check-in process. Best of all, we got our kids out on the water and connected with nature. Just an FYI, that the parking lot can fill up quickly.

Really a hidden gem.
All you need a good weather to have great time. Perfect place to enjoy the serenity, stillness, unwind & could get great pictures.
Folks were friendly & helpful. We were a group of two families and had wonderful time. Also it’s right next to trial for walking/biking.
Bonus you may see a few ducks/ duck family & a turtle

My family really enjoys kayaking at Tarrytown lake several times a year. The guys who work there work very hard to give everyone a good experience.

Lovely weather at the Tarrytown Lakes site. Equipment was ready and a fabulous young man helped us into the water.

Attendants were polite and helpful
The lake is pretty but not super large
You can paddle from one end to the other in about 20 minutes
Was peaceful and relaxing though

The lake has some wildlife like snapping turtles and birds
Water itself is very murky don't expect to swim here

Around the lake there is a paved walking trail you can follow. Can be nice and relaxing before or after kayaking.

They sell protective phone cases there for about $25 but honestly it's not necessary unless you're planning to tip your own boat over
You can buy your own from Amazon for like $10

Yes, my girlfriend and I had a great time. It was perfect weather. When we arrived the staff was friendly, and the sign in process was very simple. I wish we had more time, but next time I will sign up for more hours. Overall, great experience, we loved it.

Perfect outing for a beginner kayacker.the lake is big enough to have enough space to explore but small enough that when little arms get tired its not a long paddle back:)

Very nice place for beginners kayaking. It is a small lake so it's perfect who doesn't have much experience.

The Kayak Fundamentals lesson at Tarrytown Lake was AWESOME ️. It was my first time kayaking and the instructor was clear and thorough. I highly recommend this location and lesson if you're a newbie. The water is calm, and all equipment including personal flotation device was provided. Parking was easy at 10: 30am - there's a Park and Ride lot just cross the street from the kayak rentals.
