Hummus inc reviews
16The owner was extremely kind and helped us pick out our order. The hummus, falafel, and salad were all very fresh and delicious. So many good vegan options
Simply the best. It’s tough not to lost the entire menu (everything is that good), so I’ll just list my top favorites: shakshuka, falafel, matbucha, lentil soup… it’s good enough that I willingly detour a number of blocks and willingly lug a heavy bag out to Long Island whenever I have the chance to bring some home.
Lentil soup was very good and the owner of the restaurant was sweet, even let us try some falafel balls free of charge. I’m glad he did because they were delicious and i indeed bought an order of 6. Definately needs more drink options, but I was happy with the mango drink. 100% vegetarian and Kosher with alot of vegan options as well!
Falafel best ever. Hummus very good. Nice conzept. Portions could be bigger. Didnt get full. Super nice staff
A good restaurant with delicious food, the dishes we ate were Shakshuka (tomato and garlic) and hummus with cauliflower were very tasty and the prices are completely reasonable.
The service of some of the employees is not the nicest but the food makes up for it. Highly recommended place.
HOLY MARY & SWEET BABY JESUS. AVOID THIS PLACE! I was just standing in line to order at Hummus Inc and saw a server BLOW HIS NOSE INTO HIS HANDS, WIPE THE SNOTTY REMNANTS ONTO HIS SHIRT AND THEN ROOT AROUND IN BOTH NOSTRILS. I thought I was going to vomit and couldn't help blurting out, "Please stop sir! " to which he began to actually scream at me, telling me he wasn't serving food.just standing near it.it's New York, so I expect a little crazy, but this was waaaaaaayyyy too too much. Gross beyond imagining. It was 20 mins ago and my stomach still hasn't settled.
Hummus inc is located in the Dekalb Market Hall in Brooklyn. It’s a small booth that delivers food with a lot of flavor. As many Mediterranean restaurants there are in NYC that serve falafel, very few of them taste good. In fact, many of them taste the same. It’s almost as if there is this one falafel manufacturer that is sending their falafel to all of the different Mediterranean restaurants in the city. Hummus inc is different. There are no fillers. The inside of the falafel is bright green and fresh as it should be. It’s gluten free - as it should be - and fried to order. It’s so perfect that I ordered it twice. 6 falafels for $4.50 is also such an amazing deal. Service was also outstanding and the guy working there is such a sweetheart so that was a bonus. I got to taste their different sauces with the falafel and liked them all so much that it was difficult picking a winner. I look forward to going back here.
I had the falafel salad, I added olives, hummus, a spicy sauce and a few salad veggies. Falafel were fresh and flavorful, and so were the rest of the ingredients. However, the olives were not pitted, which made eating them annoying. The spicy sauce wasn't that spicy, tasted more like a tomato sauce. The pita bread that came with it was underdone and doughy, it was like gum. Also, I wish they had like some sort of rice or bulgur to make it a real meal. I will go and try the shakshuka to see how it is, but will defs not be ordering the falafel salad again.
Update: I got the shakshuka this time. The flavor was good however it was like 80% tomato sauce and 20% egg. And the bread was again, very chewy and doughy. The salad that came with it didn't seems fresh at all, and I wish it also had onions in it, not just tomatoes and carrots.
Great food. Super fresh. Great for grabbing a nice salad or a falafel sandwich. Highly recommend
The restaurant is in a food-court-style market on the bottom floor of the building with seating areas regardless of where you're eating. The atmosphere is very nice but is not specific to Hummus Inc.
What is specific to Hummus Inc.is their food, and if everything on their menu is as good as their shakshuka, then you're in for an absolute delight of a meal! The shakshuka itself was amazing, and the pita on the side was incredibly soft & fluffy. It also came with a side of cucumbers and tomatoes. All that and a soda came in under $20, including tip, so it is very affordable. And although the portion was a little on the small side, it was very filling.
Ordered a sabich, realized once I arrived home that I was served a falafel sandwich…and I was the only customer so it’s not like the guy mixed up orders
Shakshuka was delicious! The owner / cook / salesperson is amazing! And the pricing is very reasonable.
Definitely the best kosher place in the area.
I had the cauliflower salad. It was great! The owner also let me have three falafels which was nice of him. I would definitely go again!
Best Falafel.hummus in town.
Try eggplant.humus and few vegetables with pita bread $15 lunch totally worth it.
Just wow! Mouth watering food.heaven for Vegan.vegetarian
The place could be hard to find
It’s directly below target in the food court
I got a standard falafel wrap, and it didn’t impress when compared with others I’ve gotten in NYC. The size was average and the ingredients weren’t well incorporated within the sandwich. There were several bites of just cabbage salad towards the end with no sauce or other flavors. I’d look for other vegan options in the market or try another option on Hummus Inc's menu. The Asian spots probably have a vegan option in their menus. I’d personally just look at options outside of the market if I could do things differently. You may wind up looking around the market trying to pick out the one or two items that could be made vegan at each place.
Im there with my friends at least twice a week, the falafel and the Shakshuka is absolutely delicious and the portions are fair for the price.if you're vegetarian or vegan you'd def enjoy the quality and preparation of veggies here
Also the owner is friendly and welcoming, great service.
