Ideal Food Basket reviews
17They had a huge renovation and now looks very clean and modern, have much more and better selections than before so I go there a lot more after their renovation. In most days things there are great. However there are some days their fresh product quality is really off. Recently I got a box of cut fruits there, when I ate it tasted a bit spoiled, and unfortunately I had stomachache afterwards. Another time I got a boxed cucumbers there and when I opened the box (mins after purchase) the cucumbers all turned out to be soft, not fresh at all, and seemed to have started rotting. After these experience I’m avoiding getting boxed fresh produce there at the moment unless there’s more care goes into quality control.
Much lighter and brighter after the recent remodel.really like the new baked goods/sandwiches/wraps section in the front.
Wide selection. One of the better and more affordable grocery options near Brooklyn museum area.
Ideal looks so much better since renovations were started. The quality of the food is much better.
It’s ok. Recently renovated. It’s fairly clean and usually fairly empty, but prices are high compared to other stuff in the neighborhood. Fine, but not my go to.
They have updated there store it looks great shopping is very easy was in and out in no time
This place is kind of sketchy - you're better off avoiding it if you can.
I've had all sorts of random bad experiences here. I've gotten ice cream that was hard and icy - assumedly because it was allowed to melt before being re-frozen. One time I bought a mousse dessert that had spoiled on the shelf - there was no date on it to know that it had expired, and I only found out when I took a bite. And most recently, I bought some rather expensive steaks which turned out to be spoiled *two days before* their labelled "sell by" date.
I've also had plenty of fine experiences here. It's usually just a middling store with acceptable food. But do you really want to shop at a grocery store where you can't trust the freshness of the food you're getting?
They really upped their game with the major renovation, widening aisles, adding new selections (not to mention, a Beer Cave), and self check-out. Customer service is generally very warm and friendly. Kudos to their management team.
It is a much better store than years ago right now they are doing another major renovation but the shelves and some things have a layer of dust or whatever on it.which is very annoying. The work is done and it looks better just have to get used to the new prices
Just want to send a big THANK YOU to everyone at the store! I recently lost my wallet. It was found at the store and they brought it to me at my apartment!
Many Tanks to all of you!
Denise
Made some upgrades to the interior recently (including a beer cave!) and it has improved the quality of my shopping experience. Gluten free snack options available here too. Prices can be bloated for some items, but does not smell like cats when I enter and floors are clean. Located by B69 and B45 bus stop and a short walk from Grand Army or Brooklyn Museum.
No price tags on anything, and/or price tags don’t match the price listed on the bar underneath the item. Never have any idea how much I’ll wind up paying
This was my first visit since the renovation and I felt as though I was in a different store. The shelves are meticulously stocked and the employees are welcoming and friendly. It's Great!
My problem is not with the staff or even the prices my problem lies with the fact there is a junkie always outside the store harassing everyone who walks past him for money I have brought this up to the manager several times him saying he will take care of it but nothing is being done I feel intimidated whenever I walk there to get my food I don’t want to call the cops but I’m getting pretty close to doing that
Although the store has many choices and reasonable prices, the customer service is horrible. I discovered this store a few months ago and have been on there about 4-5 times and the cashiers are not friendly at all. Each time they are standing around talking, no good morning, thank you or anything. I've said good morning and the cashiers acr like they didn't hear. The self check registers only accept credit/debit. To pay cash or SNAP you have to find a cashier to ring you up. You should be able to pay however you want at all self-chek especially with the unfriendly cashiers you feel you're bothering when asked where can I pay. I don't want to blame the early times I go (around 7-7: 30am) for the lack of customer service at all. These cashiers and the management need to take a class on customer service. Many might not care about these types of things but the supermarket and their employees should care. DO BETTER!
Ideal is a major specialty food retailer. We are lucky to have the Manager the staff that has transformed and continues to transform the store to introduce new products. To carry favorites!
