Imli Restaurant&Bar reviews
18One of the best Indian food I’ve had in Manhattan. The usual doughy naan that you find in almost all indian places in New York, was a much more delicate, thinner and flaky here. Our dal makhani and malai kofta were both flavorful and fresh tasting. The cocktails were different and well done. Overall highly recommended place!
Today for dinner I went to imli the restaurant was packed after half n hour I got to be seated because I am from Hyderabad India but I live in Cincinnati Ohio I requested one of the server can u please request the chef to make gosh hydrabadi n the chef made it in such busy restaurant this dish is not in the menu but he did it I really enjoyed the he dish it was spot on place for me perfectly made I have never had gosh hydrabadi any where in usa it was delicious n yummy I will definitely back with my friends n family
The best Indian food I’ve had in NYC so far. The staff is very friendly and courteous too!
Was here during lunchtime - good news for halal eaters, they have halal & veg options.
Like the decor, like their presentation of steel thali. Right proportions for someone who wants to go for desi food. It gets a little heavy afterward though Masala tea is nice too.
Quality Indian cuisine, kind & hard working staff, reasonable prices. Also able to accommodate larger groups.
We visited on a Sunday and had Naan, Rice, Dal Makhani and Aloo Capsicum. All items were perfectly cooked and tasty. Salt was little less which is good. Pleasant host and service. Portions are sufficient for two persons. Rates are apt for the taste and the location. Recommend for Ala Carte Lunch. GM he weekday Brunch is priced far less.
It was my second time at Imli, so I was delighted to return! This time I had drinks, an appetizer, an entree, and dessert. It was nothing short of superb!
You will want to spice up your night with a flavorful trip to Imli (Imli=Tamarind=an Indian date) ASAP! Nestled just a couple stops from Times Square, you’ll have no problem finding your way into the hospitable care of the most capable crew at Imli.
My dear friend and I sipped on still and sparkling water, and dived into the vibrant Indian Summer and Mezcalitza. I had the Indian Summer and it was light, but my friend’s Mezcalitza is not for the faint of heart. They pour heavy on that one. Just a heads up!
The appetizers gave me sweet flashbacks of my time in Kerala with the Kerala Beef and fiery Pepper Shrimp. The flavors are vibrant and dance in your mouth with every bite!
We saved room for more as we wrapped Grandma‘s Fish Curry with garlic and cheese naan—skipping over to the perfect rice to balance it out. The succulent lamb was prepared to perfection—luring us to savor every morsel. My greatest regret was not getting a to-go box because I think I still had a bit on the bone.
But the sweet endings with the Guava Mango Gelato elevated the entire dining experience. I mean, this was close-your-eyes good! The perfect balance of sweetness and textures that let you know you finished well. Its heated partner was the Gulab Jamun. I don’t think I’ve had that dessert in years, but those two bites weren’t enough. I wanted more, but realized I already had plenty.
This place was so Instagram-worthy; we couldn’t resist a mini-photo shoot! Immerse yourself in the taste of India at Imli—where every bite is a memory.
Special thanks to Karan who was the most gracious and knowledgeable server. His guidance through our selections provided us the perfect blend for a delectable dining experience!
Great experience all around when my family eats here! The lunch special and happy hour is always great as well:)
Me and my boyfriend had a beef curry and dal tadka and it was so delicious with perfect seasonings, we tried lots of Indian restaurants but not the food like here, we had a great time, we are thinking to celebrate our engagement party, will be back with friends and family, Thank you chef for delicious and amazing meal and service was great……
I had weird experience here. I ordered a dry martini w olives and it arrived brown which the bartender explained was the olive juice which was fine with me. But it tasted funny so I asked him if he could do it again and once again same experience. He explained it was the olive juice. So I asked him what ingredients he used and he took out sweet brown vermouth and explained that he didn't have the dry vermouth needed for a martini. I asked then why he hadn't explained this to me and he just kept smiling. I then ordered a straight vodka which was fine and I paid for but I was still charged a few dollars for two drinks I didn't drink. No apologies. We did order three shrimp openers which were really great.
This restaurant is not listed in the “best” Indian restaurants lists but after trying to find a great Indian restaurant in NY - this is it. Delicious food - had the goat curry and dhal with naan and roti - definitely the best I’ve had in NYC. Ambiance was nice - loved the “call waiter” button too l! All in all a great restaurant if you want authentic Indian food in a nice restaurant
We had the best food this weekend at Imli. Every single dish exceeded our expectations. The lamb Rogan Josh and chicken Tikka was exceptional enjoyable.
I would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant. Definitely recommended!
Thank you for such wonderful service!
Total rip-off $20 for takeout okra. It was cold when I got home (a 5min walk and I opened immediately). No effort to chop onions, in a very basic dish. Nobody at front to greet/take order - I waited a few mins then had to hunt around. He was nice and food was quick, but I would happily have waited a few minutes longer for someone to take the time to chop onions better than a 7yo child and to serve hot food.
I was there with my wife yesterday and we had Butter chicken and it was very flavorful and top notch and I never had this type of butter chicken in London it was yummy and juicy and hats off to the chef, but the service was lacking I have to raise my hand for the water and nobody was there to ask me for the dessert, but I will be back with my friends and family
Me and my husband went today for Brunch at IMLI. We had an amazing experience on this restaurant with great authentic taste of food which was really mouth watering that exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend others also to visit at least once and enjoy the authentic taste of cuisine here.
Very Good! I Treated My Wife and Surprised Her For Her Birthday. The Decor, Ambiance was On. Food was Really Good.
Flavors were on point. The mutton curry with the idli was my favourite. Drinks were great I recommend the passionfruit margarita. Karan our server was very attentive. All in all good experience.
Staffs are very friendly and offer delicious meal in an excellent environment. The most important thing is you don’t have to wait long for your order.
