Island Empanada of Merrick

Total fail, the beef and cheese ones have no cheese and almost no meat. The chicken one was not good at all and the price is WAY too high for these empanadas. Not a good experience at all.

Not bad at all! Good food and a nice young lady behind the counter. The price is high. 4$ a empanada. The deal I had was 35$ for 10. The beef and plantain empañada was great the one pork was great too. Chicken empañada was also good. I would like to try a chicken pepper and potatoes, or pork and plantain for a future feature item. They have vegetarian options also.

Great little shop tucked away, yummy. I enjoyed the Chipotle beef empanada. Delicious, nice spicy kick, cant wait to try the rest.

Long over due, review for these delicious empanadas that I tried from a food truck at the amityville park, went to a event slammed by the bay and they were there selling empanadas! The lines were so long and they kept making new empanadas, they were trying to keep up with the demand of empanadas that everyone was ordering. Chicken/Shrimp/Carne empanadas we’re all tried and all of them were very tasty and fresh! Highly recommend visiting a physical location, if you can’t find the truck.

Really good empanadas. The chipotle style ones can leave an aftertaste I’m not fond of, and I’m usually a chicken person but I prefer the ground beef here. Maduros are inconsistent, sometimes they’re really good and sometimes they’re really dry.

Ordered two combination dinner plates. You get 3 choices for empanada's. Both dinner choices were to have one beef with cheese. I was watching the girl make the order. It seemed like she grabbed just regular beef, not beef with cheese. Here's the kicker. I actually said to her, I think you gave me just beef, not beef with cheese. Her answer, no.we do alot of orders.you probably saw someone else's order. Sure enough, I came home. Just beef! No beef with cheese. I called the restaurant, explaining what happened, and the girl hung up on me! The crazy thing is, this is the second time, this happened to me! I just can't seem to get a beef and cheese empanada!

Very disappointing-my idea of maduros isn't steam table barely ripe plaintains that taste like cardboard. I was told it would be a wait, thought that they were frying them. Wrong! It would be awhile because they were taking phone orders. The empanadas are just sitting in a case and kept warm.

The first time I went here was good but it got worse each time. The lazy teenagers working the evening shift gave me churros without any sugar on them. The churros were cold and hard. I felt like I was eating cardboard and it made my stomach sick. In addition, their empanadas are way too expensive for their size and taste. I would not waste my time and money coming here again. I would advise you to go to their Lindenhurst branch instead of here.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL! The store is so clean and the workers are super friendly. The food was also so good I will definitely be back this week. I got the Buffalo Chicken empanada and churro which was fabulous. It’s my new fav spot and I’m so glad it is close to home! So amazing!

My daughter brought one home for lunch and asked me if I’d like to try one. I tried the beef empanada and was really impressed with the quality of ingredients and taste. It’s an excellent comfort food And plan on going back to try the rest of their products.

Absolutely amazing! So many different empanadas to choose from. Everyone from the owner to the staff were so nice. Can't wait to go back and try more.

So many choices! The ones we shared (beef and cheese, Cuban, and apple caramel) were excellent. Hard working staff, and their system for filling orders seems like it will keep the line moving quickly. Looking forward to trying many more flavors.

I have eaten empanadas at a roadside stand in Puerto Rico and I have eaten homemade empanadas and I was anxious to try these and they are delicious! I tried the beef and the pork and loved them both. I will come back to try the many different types they offer. The place is immaculately clean and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended.

We went to Island Empanadas for the first time & there was an issue with our order and Ashley was quick to correct it. She was really sweet and definitely was concerned to help fix it to make it a pleasant experience.

Delicious! This place just opened I have been waiting for them to open and I was not disappointed! Great variety of empanadas! Staff was very friendly. Store was very clean. I will be back!

Stopped here for lunch with a few friends we all enjoyed the lunch special, 2 empanadas rice beans and plantains. I got the Chicken and cheese and pork empanada both were very good!

LOADED POTATO BALLS OMG! So good! Empanadas were so good. Really enjoyed the rice & beans and plantains. Staff was wonderful, very polite and explained the menu to me and my boyfriend!
