Ivan Ramen reviews
17This is one of my favorite restaurants. The Chicken Paitan is packed with incredible flavor and a pleasant mix of textures. Definitely my favorite ramen in NYC. Their other dishes like the crispy eggplant and spicy green beans are also top notch.
The ramen at this place is truly exceptional! My boyfriend and I are avid ramen enthusiasts, and the chilly winter days in NYC often call for a comforting bowl. Our top recommendation is the Chicken Paitan – don't be alarmed by the raw egg on top; it adds a delicious touch without an overly eggy flavor. For an extra kick, try adding roasted tomatoes; it's a worthwhile investment that elevates the ramen's taste. Having visited a couple of times, we consistently opt for the same dishes. We also suggest starting with the Japanese fried chicken, the Wagyu pastrami buns (great twist if you're not big on pork) and pairing it with the refreshing lemonade. Surprisingly, we managed to secure a table without a reservation and experienced prompt service. While we happily give it 5 stars for the food and service, we'd rate the atmosphere 4 stars due to its slightly crowded feel – still a fantastic spot to enjoy with friends. Just reminiscing about it makes me crave another visit! Perhaps this time, we'll explore a different ramen option.
I went to Ivan Ramen for lunch on a weekend afternoon and it wasn't too busy so I was able to get a seat at the counter. I had the spicy kyuri pickles and vegan shoyu. The kyuri pickles were proper spicy so naturally I loved them. They left a tingle in my mouth and were the perfect accompaniment to the vegan shoyu. The ramen was flavourful and filling. Would definitely go back to try more items, especially the dessert.
Fantastic food, from starters to Ramen.
The chicken Ramen is without a doubt the best.
To accompany it, a natural yuzu juice fit perfectly with the concept.
Excellent atmosphere and very friendly staff.
We paid €63 for 1 starter, 2 Ramen and 2 juices.
PS: We just didn't like the pressure we felt, several times, to leave as soon as we had finished eating, because there were still several empty seats.
Sit at the bar, get the crispy eggplants, Brussels sprouts and Ebi Lemon Mayo (shrimp). You can’t go wrong with the service nor the ramen dishes. Would definitely recommend as a top ramen spot in town.
First time at Ivan Ramen & I am so happy to try this place. Food is excellent, customer services is good! I will always come to visit this place from now on.
Absolutely loved our experience at Ivan Ramen. The food was delicious, fresh, and exceeded my expectations. There were 5 of us so we were able to try multiple dishes and all were excellent. Service was prompt and super friendly. Sat outside in the heated covered area and was perfectly comfortable. Looking forward to going back!
It just to be good. I love their food but the service ruined it.
My boyfriend and I just to drive all the way here from Westchester once or twice a month for the last 2 years just to have a couple of plates and the service just to be so good but this last couple of times We had just good food but our waitress (each time) was a new one so our experience wasn’t good.
Best ramen that ever. To croissant not so attention to the details but all kind and helpful.to try
My favorite chill ramen spot in Manhattan. It’s got great vibes. The Japanese chicken and eggplant are my favs. The servers are always super kind and engaging
Excellent ramen soups.and delicious.highly recommend to fans of the genre.excellent service.
Was average Raman. Expensive for what you get. Don't love the energy in there. There are much better options.
For me this was my favorite place because they make the ramen perfect, the service was perfect, I had been there so many times. But I must say that the last two I went I felt as discriminated against as ever by the host and the new waitresses. Is it because I am Latin and they are American? But lately the service felt so horrible that for me it is no longer a pleasant place to go. And if I emphasize again, I am Latino and I love that restaurant but the completely disastrous services they have now are horrible. And that is why I for one will not return. And if I am writing it in Spanish for the same reason because the bartender who served me exactly treated me so contemptuously that I felt discriminated against, I hope I am not wrong.
He stressed, I love the food but I don't know if it is a new management or what, but the last two times I went with my wife they have been horrible and I have been coming to this place for quite some time.
Though it was very good and very creative it sadly did not live up to the hype. Was not of the standard of the best ramen restaurants I've been to (e.g. Kodawari in Paris). Honestly wouldn't recommend unless you live in new York and have been to other ramen places in NY
Chicken Paitan was creative (didn't realise it was possible to push ramen in such a Mexican direction without it turning into fusion) but it lacked something to take the bowl from very good to outstanding. Obviously still giving five stars because I'm talking about ridiculously high standards here.
Just ok. I wouldn’t line up for it. Wouldn’t miss it if I didn’t have it again. Broth oily, not hot enough to affect the raw egg, most toppings are add-ons. Noodle chew was ok. Service was nice.
Food: brussel sprouts, Tonkotsu ramen, and Tokyo Shoyo. Sprouts were amazing. Ramen was good, but way too salty (both of them).
Service: great!
I had the vegan ramen plus an egg which made my ramen more expensive than the meat ones. It was a decent shoyu broth once I added the spicy sauce to it but not even close to the best Manhattan veg ramen I’ve had. The roasted tomato and spicy sauce were great flavor bombs and probably the highlight. I do wish they had a miso-based vegetarian broth option as they always tend to be more umami than shoyu based broths.
My partner had the classic tonkotsu which he said was good but nothing special about it. The portion for all of us medium-small compared to other similarly priced ramens in Manhattan.
