I am so grateful that I found Jamal. I walked out of the salon looking like a brand new person; stopping and looking in every glass window I found. It was so hard for me to find a hairdresser that can take care of my damaged hair and I can’t wait for him to take me on a new and healthy hair journey.

I traveled 1,000 miles to find Jamal. When I walked into the salon, my hair was a complete mess. When I walked out, my natural hair was flowing, silky, and styled just right. He knew EXACTLY what to do with my hair. Jamal recommended a style that would give me the most bang for my hair texture. And he was 100% right. I was so impressed with his technique for smoothing my edges. He gave me flowing waves that fell softly into a modern look. I was so afraid of leaving with tight, church-lady curls, like I have in past times with other stylists. Not on Jamal’s watch. His styling/finishing technique was simple and highly effective. His product mix is flawless. His thermal technique is unmatched. Wrapped up with all those skills is a kind, intelligent, and funny professional who is genuinely a pleasure to be around. I booked my appointment weeks in advance as I was travelling from England for a wedding so needed a fresh blow out for the occasion. Firstly, I cannot believe how difficult it is to find a hairdresser/salon catering to textured hair in Manhattan so I feel lucky I stumbled upon Jamal. On the day of my appointment New York was receiving the backlash of a hurricane and the weather report for the afternoon, when my apppintment was scheduled was dire. Jamal text me at 9am to ask if I would like to move my appointment forward to avoid this. Unfortunately, I couldn't due to prior plans however I thought this was exceptionally thoughtful and great customer service. The salon and service I received were fabulous and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jamal or visit again when I'm next in NYC.

Jamal is the hair G. O. A. T! Never got heat damage from silk presses and my hair is so much healthier when I see him. He's also a great colorist. It's hard to find a great stylist and colorist all in one.

From the minute I contacted him to book my appointment to the time I was walking out the door, it was a memorable and worth while experiance

I originally found Jamal alami through a quick google search about 2 years ago to book an appointment, but I never followed through. I'm someone used to getting 30$ wash and set from the dominicans.
But I quietly followed his social media to see his results and his clientele because I dont trust everyone with my hair ironically lol

Fast forward, I contacted jamal and he was more then welcome to accommodate me.
I visited him on 12/31 just to get a fresh new look for the new year

I JUST MUST SAY THIS. Let the pictures speak for themselves. Not only was he very friendly, he was personable and is an expert on anything dealing with hair. He gave me tips on how to maintain it and I am in LOVE with his talented hands.
I learned new things I've never knew about my hair and gained a new hair dresser/friend.
