Joe Allen reviews
17Lovely place. Great service and the food was excellent. So many places to eat around restaurant row, but this one is where the locals go.
Wow! Note to self always make a reservation. However the host got us in last minute) I know not always the case). Very charming service is excellent and the food very tasty! A great place that to dine staying in midtown
Beautiful old restaurant. Great food and service. And you may get seated next to a celebrity
Classic Broadway spot. We enjoyed lunch here. The steak frites was fantastic. Had a nice glass of wine and then sat outside for a bit after dinner to enjoy an a coffee and watch the people stroll by on their way to Times Square.
The food was pretty sketchy. I was going to eat dinner but was dismayed and decided against it when a neighboring patron’s meal came out in -no joke- less than 60 seconds. There’s fast service that is praiseworthy…but too fast and you wonder if the food was pre-prepared. I ended up getting an appetizer while I was waiting for a friend and it was very bland.
Would go back and sit at the bar for the exceptional service from the bartenders. Give them a raise, please.
The people here were extremely aggressive and threatening to me and my two friends when we paused on the steps of a separate builsing near the restaurant to check our walking directions. Do not recommend.
One of the few things in NYC that remains a constant. It's comforting to walk in and have it be exactly the same as it was 30 years ago. Order the burger.
Always good! Consistently. The fabulous service is always aware of the curtain going up! Great place in the heart of the theatre district.
5 star everything. My favorite restaurant to eat at. It’s my number one in any state here in the US! Joe Allen is on my list the second I step foot in NYC. The people that work here are so kind, and I’ve come enough to know them by their names! I truly cannot recommend a better place to have the best food with the best service and best quality.
We stopped by before a Broadway show and I everything was so good and perfect, the food, the service and the place! Five starts for everything!
Always one of my favorite spots pre theater if I can find a seat at the bar.
The bartenders are always friendly, even when busy, the food is always well prepared and the people watching is spectacular. Plus, I often end up in very interesting conversations with others at the bar.
This evening I left a show early so there was no problem finding a seat at the bar, but still great service and a very yummy burger.
Exceptional hospitality and service. Manager Brian was very accommodating and made our night.
Great place, good food, good after theater vibe/ crowd.
Service needs some improvement.
Five starts for the service, four for the food, and three for the drinks. Stopped by after a broadway show starving. The food came out super quick, the server was great. The side car cocktail was probably the worst I’ve had, very sour. The atmosphere is cool, old-timey New York.
This was without a doubt the best cooked ny strip steak I ever had. Asked for medium, and it was perfectly seared on the outside and perfectly light pink on the inside. The fries were amazing. The red wine reduction wasn't needed for the steak since it was so perfect, but was a delightful rich topping for the fries. A+.
Excellent service and absolutely delicious food! They worked around our show time beautifully.
Arrived late and this restaurant was close to the hotel and open late. Good cocktails and reasonable food.good atmosphere.
