This is the park by Verrazzano Bridge where you can see Staten Island and make photographs of the water, the bridge and Staten Island. You will also see many ships passing by that are entering and leaving the New York harbor.
We fed squirrels there. Loved it. Squirrel followed me home. Did not love that. Squirrel blinks in patterns, very obvious patterns but I do not understand them. Hate that. Squirrels gather outside my window. Looking at me. Watching every movement. Blinking. Blink. Pause. Stare. Stare. Stare. Blink. Stare. Blink. Stare. Pause. Blink. Feel them watching right now.
Nice little park, lots of trees and shade. Bit of traffic noise from the bridge. Main feature is a historical monument to WW1 navy. Good place to take your dog for a walk or eat a meal outside.
Clean park with parking near by has a historical cannon and ammunition dating back to the 1800s
Can't miss it with the Verrezano-Narrows in the background but possibly a overlooked park with a lot of US Military History
It's a wonderful place to take a walk or sit and reflect. It's spacious and you can just get a break from it all.
Lots of open space. Great for the kids to come out and play. Great views. Cleanliness #1. It's quite and safe for everyone.
Quiet chill park & memorial adjacent to U S Army Fort Hamilton and the Verrazano Bridge US 278 Brooklyn to Staten Island one edge of the park is heavy car traffic as there is an entrance to Belt Parkway w Shore Road intersection ; park has paths to walk & several benches to sit & observe the surroundings: nice park
Nice quite place to read a book or just watch people passing buy. Also to take a walk or do some simple exercises on the grass. Mostly elderly people taking the sun and chatting. I don't recommend it for walking dogs.
A beautiful park/hidden gem of NY. It has views of NY harbor and the VN bridge. Suggestion: Grab a beverage and a slice or two of pizza at one of the brick oven pizzerias along 4th Ave as you head to the park (the subway is at 4th Ave and 95th Street) and enjoy the views.
This will always be cannonball park to me. It is pretty, with a gorgeous monument in honour of the Dover Patrol in the war. Obviously, there also is a huge cannon, with large, shiny cannonballs stacked in front of it. The cannonballs themselves could do with a cleaning, but overall, it's really nice.
I love this place! It keeps my kids occupied while I can rest on the benches. The only thing is that once I was resting and my kids came up to me, crying because they sat on one of the cannonballs and got dog poop on their leg. They should really think about cleaning this place more often. Other than that jones park is perfectly fine. Love it!
