Bar JP’s Checkers reviews
8Only reason you have 1 star is because I have to give you something to review your establishment. Brought in over 20 people to your bar to celebrate to find out you've blocked black and Hispanic music on your juke box. When the owner Jamison was questioned about it, he denied having control over the music which was a bold face lie. He does not want Black or Hispanic customers in his bar. We took our crew outta there and down Hertel where they're welcomed. Will never be back and don't suggest anyone else goes here either.
Crystal, your review doesn't say anything about the members of the LGBTQ community or the people of color who enjoyed the rest of their night at Checkers after your crew left because it was your poor behavior that was the only problem there. Also conspicuously absent in your review is the part where you guys smashed beer bottles on the pavement in front of the establishment, don't worry tho, it's on video. As a customer I hope you never return, I'm betting the owner feels the same.
My favorite neighborhood bar by far. The owner did a great job updating the inside, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and they have an awesome patio. Always a great time!
Awesome.friendly people. Small unique bar.good drinks.cant wait for it to open completely (due to covid restrictions)
Good food good price! No indoor seating, cuts down on overhead and they pass it on to customers.
It is really not the same as the old Checkers. I feel underdressed and the woodwork is overdressed. The vibe is like having a beer in a Whole Foods.
Fantastic gem on hertel, with great roast beef sandwiches and Sahlen’s hotdogs on the grill. It has seen better days in the past, but it’s recent renaissance has made it an incredible establishment. Also, if there were a contest for most usable, cleanliness and comfortable bathroom in the city limits to take a dump in, they would win.
