Judge Roy Bean Public House reviews
18I saw a rat and it was cool. The video is viral! This bar rocks! If you know you know! I’ll definitely be returning when I come back to New York! I’m being serious! That was a cool night people yes we don’t want rodents at our restaurants but remember, it’s in a downtown area in a big city what do you expect. Things happen sometimes! Give them a break! They rock! (Not the rodents always but the people, they rock)
4 stars based on the prompt service, quality Guinness pour and the size and lighting of the corridor.
The fact that I ate there before this video has me thinking it's not the first time, rats are in the restaurant. Tic-toc has a video of the rat all over the bar, food beers please make sure you clean everything and throw everything out buy new.
Very tasty food, adequate portions to fill up, moderate prices, lots of space - tables inside and outside. An ideal place for meetings in a larger group.
Being Irish, ordered the fish and chips which had Irish peas. Was looking forward to the peas as well been awhile. The plate arrived, NO PEAS. I mean to say, chef? Was halfway through food when waitress brought me them. Fish not at all good. Under cooked, looked so pale and very tough, bland. Very disappointed. But I was so hungry ate it. Chips are good. My initial bartender, could not get his attention to check out despite waving my card continuously. He was only interested in patrons next to me, totally blanked me. Thanks to the extremely nice bartender from NAVAN, CO. MEATH, Sam McCabe for saving the day. Otherwise this was regrettable. Will not be back.
If only I had taken a photo, as my fish looked nothing like this website photo and well no peas!
A nice, typical New York bar. Good music, wide range of drinks, nice staff and high prices.
SUPER NICE PLACE
VERY GOOD: BURGERS WRAPS BEER.
PERFECT WELCOME
I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE
Great bar! They show UFC PPVs! Paddy at the bar was a good lad to chat with. The Philly spring rolls are delicious - would be even better with a cheese sauce. I stayed down the street and came like 3 times over 10 days. Only complaint is the Jameson is pricey but that's NY!
First thing the waiter talked about was everything they were out of. Beer was great mixed drinks no good at all. Food was not very good. Truffle mac n cheese had a ton of truffle oil on the bottom of the craft, fish of the fish and chips was just ok. The fries were great. With 4 1/2 stars, I expexted much better.
I ate here multiple times while in Manhattan. The food and staff are second to none. Amazing atmosphere.
On the night of 01/07/23, we went into the bar like any other Saturday night like we normally do. We’ve NEVER had a problem the years we’ve been coming here but this night in particular was definitely not the experience we were expecting. We sat at the bar and normally make conversation with the bartender but he wasn’t there. Two new guys were there and let’s just say since we’re not white nor their usual we had to keep asking for beer after our cups were empty. They saw multiple times that our cups were empty and ignored us. But a couple next to us as soon as their cup was empty they were quick to offer them another drink. Honestly we won’t be visiting when those bartenders are there.
We were welcomed right in and offered a table. Prompt and friendly service. Beer and Drinks within a couple minutes, dinner was fresh and hot, picked right out of the kitchen window and straight to our table. I’d highly recommend you come sit, eat and drink to your content! Prices were totally reasonable and I’ll definitely return.
Wouldn’t recommend. Had to ask for service, ask for drinks, ask to order food and drinks were weak.
The bartender is a super friendly guy who made the whole place run. He was taking orders, making drinks, giving recommendations, serving food, shooting the breeze. It was a one-man show. Never seen anything like it or since anywhere. In San Francisco, where I'm from, it takes 4 people to give you 20% the service we saw here. We stopped for drinks after a walk in Central Park, and we just had to have the food, which was pretty good.
All the bartenders (Michael and Jen) are very friendly and Connor is the very hospitable and personable proprietor. This is our "go-to" bar when we are in midtown NYC!
Five stars is for PATRICK! The best bartender I ever encountered! So caring and so attentive when it comes to serving his customers.but ZERO STARS go for CONNOR! The WORST bartender ever! He can’t tell when someone is having a good time or beyond wasted.he kicked my friends and i out for having fun apparently.won’t go back if he’s there honestly.need a better bartender thats actually experienced than Connor.
This is an Ok place for drinks when there is no other options. Do not recommend ordering food at all. Both drinks and food are overpriced.
Surprising a wonderful place. Efficiently run with just one friendly guy managing the whole floor. A gem.
