Don’t get swayed by reviews in NY Times about Indian restaurants! Those writers write fancy stuff.have no clue! Our experience was totally underwhelming! The lamb chops and the shrimp were just about decent.but small quantity.the much hyped doori kebab was off the mark, with the lamb bhuna a waste of money (all bones) and the fish curry absolutely rubbish! The fish was overcooked! The one decent food item was the chicken biryani! Cocktails were just about ok. (teeny tiny) including the falooda dessert! Seating for 3 was abysmal! For such a hyped up restaurant the dining experience was so poor and totally not memorable! And to add insult to injury, they add the tips percentage after the sales tax is added to the check! Not one penny worth the $125/ person charges!

Kebab’s are really good. Drinks felt over priced for the quantity. Desserts are alright. Over all good food although be cautious about spice levels.

Went here for a dinner as I enjoy kebabs quite a lot. Overall, this is a one-and-done for me. The baby goat doori kebab, lamb chops, & venison meatballs were all really good. Unfortunately, those were the only real highlights. The chicken changezi was extremely generic, paneer kofta portion woefully small (just four tiny koftas), and bone marrow pulao borderline deceptive - maybe 1/4 oz (yes, ounce!) of actual bone marrow with the rest of the bone filled in with another kabab.

My biggest issue was really the portion size. For example, the lamb chops ($39) had only three small chops in the order - should've been at least 4-5 IMO at this price. The other dishes were also too little for the price, even by NYC standards.

Other notes: cocktails seemed pretty good (I had the paan shop). Service left some more to be desired. Our server wasn't particularly friendly, didn't introduce the menu, or give any recommendations.

My recommendation would be for kebab lovers to go sit at the bar, get a drink, order maybe 3-4 kebab items, and bounce out.

We had a reservation for 4 people at 8: 00 yesterday, a Wednesday. When we checked in with the hostess, we were told to check back with her in 10 minutes. After 10 minutes we were told that they had overbooked their reservations and our table was not ready. After standing in the bar area for a half hour the manager told us they were setting our table. At 45 minutes of waiting, the manager acknowledged that they were not setting our table because they were overbooked and there was no table available. At 55 minutes of waiting, standing in the bar, the manager told us there still was no table and he could not provide an estimate of when one would be available. We left.

It is outrageous to have patrons with reservations waiting for an hour or more for a table. Others we spoke with in the bar while we were waiting said they were waiting also for over 40 minutes.

The food may be good, but it is unacceptable to be this abusive to patrons.

This is my new favorite Indian restaurant in NYC. I don't spend a lot of time in the UWS, but I will go for this place. I'm OBSESSED with their butter naan (ok, we ordered the garlic naan, too - both exceptional). Our waiter was very helpful when we ordered. We had a few apps (paneer and a kebab), but the chicken biryani was a knock out! I've only been once, but I can't wait to go back and start to experiment with other items on their menu.

Dishes were either too good or too bad.
Only the kebabs and the desserts were delicious. Main course was disappointing.
Please stay away from the cocktails!

We had an excellent dinner tonight at Kebab aur Sharab! Our party of four ordered the purple yam chaat, aslam butter chicken, rib eye seekh, paneer shashlik, famous butter chicken, two bread dishes and jasmine rice and it was the perfect amount of food. Our waiter Joshua was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in guiding what we ordered. We will definitely be back!

Came here for dinner on a Sunday night. Walked In around 8PM since we couldn’t find a reservation online. Tried to call ahead to see if it was busy, but they didn’t pick up the phone. Ordered the lamb chop, baby goat kebabs (they were so good, we ordered a 2nd round!) and old delhi korma- which is goat.

The naan was super fluffy and roomali roti very well made. Nothing was too spicy, and very authentic with high quality cuts of meat.
Very authentic food.

Pricing is on the higher side but wouldn’t say it’s overpriced. Didn’t experience any of the service issues that others cited. Will definitely return.

Spent $150 pretax and tip on 2 for a sizable dinner and no alcohol.

Came to try this restaurant for dinner and we had to wait approx 30 mins for a table. We ordered the mango lassi and paneek seekh Kebab for appetizers and for mains we got palak paneer and rose malai kofta. Garlic naan and roomali roti to eat curries with. Mango lassi and paneer seekh were delicious. We finished appetizers and tried mains. The paneer kofta were dry balls (not soaked in gravy at all). The sauce for koftas was sweet and could be less sweet. The palak paneer was average - paneer was fried and hard. Should be softer. Definitely had way better paneer at other places. Naan was overcooked and could be softer. Roomali roti was good. Hope management reviews and fix a few things.

Its very unfortunate that this restaurant, while has good food, also have one of the worst customer service. The white server was very rude, apparently he thought it was appropriate to come over our table and comment on how he was not tipped properly. I am never coming to this restaurant again. If you are spending over 100$ and receive this behavior from the servers, it is rather very unfortunate.

Rude service, hostess wouldn’t honor our reservation.

UPDATE: restaurant response notes that we didn’t notify them of our late arrival (we did) and that they asked us to wait for ten minutes while they cleared a table for us. I had to update my original review because both of these points are utterly false. We had our two young kids with us so of course we would have waited but instead we were rather unceremoniously turned away with a shrug with nary an apology or solution.

Eat at the bar! The bartenders are delightful, regardless of what night you visit. They’re just as knowledgeable as the servers and the cocktails are out of this world!

The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, but our night was basically ruined after the waiter dropped green chutney over my wife's jacket. After the incident, no one (not even the manager) came to see how they could help. While we were initially very understanding, she spent 30 mins trying to wash out the chutney with no improvement and no assistance from the staff. The replacement of the stained jacket will inevitably cost more than our meal. At the end, they brought us a dessert on the house, but we had already declined to order dessert because of my wife's lactose intolerance. She was unable to eat it, and they gave us no discount on the bill to apologize or make up for the major spill. After we left, our frustration really started to set in.

We have tried to call the restaurant over 20 times and left multiple messages attempting to get in contact with their manager about our experience. We have yet to hear back from them, and they still will not call us back to address the situation.

We also had to wait over 45 mins for our check at the end of the night, and we had to get up and ask the hostess before we received the bill. Waiters were standing around the whole time, yet they would just look away when we tried to get their attention. The drinks were good, and the lentil daal was delicious, but even that could not save the experience. Will definitely not return, mainly because of the service and their refusal to handle this situation.

The space is really nice! The service was good but the food was just average. Everything was on the spicier side and i love spicy food.
I wouldn’t return for the mains but I would definitely go back for the desert
