Japanese Restaurant Kimika reviews
19I recently had brunch at Kimika in New York, and it was a solid experience overall. We started with the tuna tartare, which was fresh and flavorful, followed by the tamago sando, a delightful combination of fluffy egg and perfectly toasted bread. The aglio e olio pasta was simple yet satisfying, with a nice balance of garlic and olive oil. While the food was good, I would have liked to see a wider variety of brunch options on the menu. Nevertheless, Kimika is a decent spot for a tasty brunch in the city.
This has got to be my new favorite restaurant. It is so delicious and everything we got literally melted in our mouths.japanese and italian inspired cuisine/fusion? ! How unique and two of my favorite cuisines.the flavors were all there. My friend and I loved the hamachi collar - best and crispiest fish we have ever had. We absolutely LOVED the uni toast.the buttery toast with uni on top was so freaking good.i have never tasted anything so delicious.it was savory and sweet.the tuna tartare was 10/10 best tuna tartare i’ve ever had and the tuna tasted so fresh.you get to DIY yourself and top it off with seaweed snacks.the soy butter bigoli pasta was a mixture of asian and italian.their cocktails were also delicious and unique.it is quite expensive BUT it is so worth it.i can’t wait to come back and try the other things i didn’t get to try.the seared scallop topped with prosciutto was sooo yummy.most fresh scallops i’ve had and it was cooked perfectly.for dessert, we got the bombolocini which was a mochi ball and inside had nutella fillings.it tasted exactly like a ferrero rocher but in a kochi version.
The service was good, our server was super friendly and helpful. It’s cute and trendy inside - perfect to go with friends, family or on a date. They also had a vegetable selection and that also looked amazing!
I think about this place. Japanese and Italian? What a combo. Make sure to get reservations. Both inside and outside dining is nice. Great options for alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. I've gone here twice with two different people. I wish I could say try X but their menu is seasonal. Make sure to always get a pasta dish. Didn't try a pizza yet but maybe that's next. Last time I went I didn't love the branzino since it felt kinda boring compared to all the other dishes but I really loved the seasonal corn dish I had in August. What I can tell you though is the dessert is out of this world, specifically the Yakult soft serve. Obviously it's seasonal so the flavor can differ but don't get weirded out by the fish skin. It really was a game changer for me. Wish they had the rice cake lasagna year around.
Delicious japanese Italian fusion food - the staff were attentive and accommodating for my dietary restrictions. Food was divine!
Stopped in for lunch and the food was excellent along with the service. Will be coming back soon!
I loved my experience here! Went here with a friend and we were blown away with every dish we tried! The greenmarket salad and uni toast were sooo good. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in NY.
Italian & Asian Fusion Food. The food was very tasty and service was great here. I came with family for my birthday. The Tuna Tartare & and Skirt Steak was my favorite. Also, desserts are unique here and I loved it! It is a bit pricey for the portion of food so it's not an everyday dinner spot.
Below are the items order.
Tuna Tartare with Nori
Skirt Steak with Shishitos Peppers
Steak Cut Fries
Truffle Carbonara
Sticky Rice Arancini
Uni Toast with Ikura
Scallops with Crispy Prosciutto
Hamachi Collar
Yakult Softserve with Crispy Chicken Skin
Mochi Bomboloncini
This place is amazing. I don’t know why anyone would give it less than 4.5 stars. I love this place, and the tiramisu dessert is something out of this dessert
The service was friendly and the food tasted good! However, they say the menu is "plated to share" but all the dishes were too small to really share. You end up having to order multiple of each to feed multiple people.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Kimika! The restaurant features dishes that blend Japanese and Italian ingredients and techniques together, which I loved. Definitely recommend ordering the Burrata Pizzette which is served with tomatoes and a flatbread similar to a scallion pancake; the Uni Spaghetti, and the Cavatelli with pork ragu. The Amish chicken was so tender and flavorful as well - not your typical roast chicken. Don't skip on dessert either; they have a Apple Crostini which is served with a scoop of ice cream and the Baked Alaska is great for chocolate lovers as well. Staff was super welcoming and professional and the ambiance is great for a nicer dinner out or a date.
You must be open minded to having an eating experience. Your taste buds are awoken as the dishes are full of flavor. Each dish is thoughtfully created.
We had the fillet of bronzino. This night it was a whole fish filleted & gently bread and lightly fried. Tender and moist with a crunch. Served with two dipping sauces.
As an appetizer we had the ahi tuna bowl. It comes in the bowl deconstructed, you mix it then enjoy on thin sheets of seaweed.
We shared a truffle pasta dish which the kitchen was able to plate for two. This made it easier, instead of dividing it at the table.
Not your typical Japanese or Italian restaurant but rather a typical NYC dining adventure.
Had a great time at Kimika! The service and food were amazing, shout-out to chef Chris! I recommend the lobster pasta and hamachi collar if you go:)
Fantastic food and service! Bobby the bartender pairs beautiful cocktails with the food and the service is excellent. Say hi to Darwin when you visit and you will be treated like a VIP!
Outstanding food and service!
Interior design is interesting, but very loud when busy
Kicked us out after only being there for 50 minutes. We weren’t even finished with our drinks. Very rude, food was average. Reservation states 90 minutes was the time limit. Server was robotic. Big pass.
Noooooooooooo. The concept of Japanese and French is supposed to be nice. Al dente should be slightly undercooked, not half raw? Scallop literally needs a stronger seasoning. I like the texture although the flavor of the scallop itself is super light when the dressing is not even that strong as well. Maybe use better ingredients? I like the way u match cabbage prosciutto and cheese maybe drain the cabbage a little bit more next time before u torch or grill it. Btw the dish I literally can diy at home and even better than yours ️. PLEASE PUT MORE ALCOHOL IN THE COCKTAIL, THIS IS NOT A MOCKTAIL.nice bathroom btw.
Easily one of my favorite restaurants. The soy butter bigoli is to die for, sooo delicious.
I’m not sure why this place isn’t rated higher! Everything we got was excellent! The arancini, tuna tartare, uni spaghetti, and prosciutto pizzeria. Really really great! And beautiful interiors.
Came here for brunch and it was so disappointing…not only the food but the service. Everything was overly salted or we got the wrong order. The only item that was fine was the pastry bento…
