King Mother is a GEM! This place holds such a special place in my heart. It is The perfect spot to wine and dine alone, with your besties, old friends, have business meetings, the list goes on and on. The food is fresh and so tasty I get goosebumps from the deliciousness. I have never had better wine- King Mother only carries the best. The staff is top notch, friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. I always feel happy and at home. King Mother- they’ve got it going on!

The cutest wine bar in Kensington? I randomly learned this bar is owned by a wonderful woman who used to be my yoga instructor! Love seeing Kensington thrive.

This place just nails it every time. Perfectly executed classics designed to showcase amazing cheese and pair well with a world class selection of natural wines. We are extremely lucky to have this gem in Ditmas.

Really thoughtful wine list and food menu. Great atmosphere and friendly, knowledgeable staff.

Their little outdoor area is very cute and tucked on a quiet side street. We shared several dishes (fondue, schnitzel, meatballs) and they were all tasty. I especially like their cava-very citrusy and bright.

This where you have to be, from friendly and knowledgable staff to well crafted dishes this place is one for the books.

Holy smokes this place is magic! Wonderfully designed, delicious food, amazing curation of wine and knowledgable staff to guide you through a tasting journey. Can't wait to come back!

Experience: Awesome; Food: Amazing; Service: Outstanding. My sister and I stumbled across this lovely wine bar and ended up staying till almost closing. Plates are a little pricey however, well worth it! The wines are amazing and definitely not your average run of the mill wines. We will definitely return!

Such a wonderful addition to the Cortelyou F&B scene. Excellently curated wine list with funny tasting notes (and I usually try one the orange wines or a lighter red because they seem to go with all the entrees). Excellent cheese selection. Great focaccia, and a small main menu but every dish is worth trying, especially the seasonal dishes like the spring chicken or the fondue in winter. Heated outdoor chalets are good year round!

For any fellow foodies who like supporting local businesses… have you ever had a dining experience served up by some beautifully genuine people that made you forget about some of the ugly things in life for a moment?

These ladies Katie and Samara (sorry if I misspelled) really embody the spirit of Brooklyn, along with their amazing staff (Shout out to Hannah!). I took my lady out for dinner on what was the busiest night since winter. We initially were sitting out in front but it was cold and luckily some seats at the bar opened up when a reservation canceled.

It was the perfect date night; I’m telling you, you can step your game up taking your special someone here, or just enjoy good company over some quality food. We left high as a mothaf*@ on dopamine. We practically rolled ourselves out the place after a 6 course meal. Come in hungry and enjoy the energy/ambiance (nice touch with a solid jazz music selection).

All I ask, you gotta show love and respect to this endearing and talented crew here, and in return enjoy a Master Class in hospitality.

Where to begin…
First of all the staff? Gorgeous, amazing with perfect customer service! The vibe is totally cute and cozy, with a modern flare with music and architecture. Their extensive wine menu paired perfectly with the cheese selections (I recommend the Vermonter)

Amazingly intimate wine bar for those who are looking for a fun night out with a small group of friends. Haven't tried all the wine, but was a big fan of the Cava, plus the small bites were delights for the palate and paired well with the wine. Chill ambiance and friendly service!

It’s not a bad ambience but it leaves something to be desired. I shared a miniature cheese platter with my husband + 1/2 focaccia, we each had a glass of wine and left $70, including 20% tip in the hole. The wines were not particularly special. Cheeses were interesting however, I wouldn’t call it a platter, more of a sampler bite size of three cheeses and the presentation was lacking. I can see this being a popular place for higher earning professionals. It’s not a bad wine bar setting, however I couldn’t help feeling that I would have been better off going a few doors down to buy good cheese and wine for less than half of the price. Overall, glad I gave it a try to know it’s not for me.

My wife and I just had dinner at King Mother. Spectacular! We had the best cheese plate we’ve had anywhere in the world, and the meatballs were perfect. You must go to this place to experience the food and the people.

has fully reopened in a space left empty a by the preCovid move a few blocks east by the area’s best wine and liquor retailer. Handsome design, very capable staff and engaging food and drinks menu are a welcome addition to the Cortelyou food scene.
