Ned and team are excellent. I had an issue on the NYS Thruway and they were there in a short period of time for a needed tow.

On SuperBowl Sunday my car’s engine got a visit from uncle rod knock on the way to Boston from Buffalo. The tow truck arrived promptly, the drivers were professional and helped me load my boxes from my car into the hotel I was staying at while I wait for my girlfriend to pick me up.

But boy oh boy is the mechanic shop probably the worst I’ve ever taken my car to. Do not trust these people to work on your car. It took a month of calling them every week for them to place an order for the engine replacement. The engine they ordered never arrived after 3 months. I had to source my own engine from Connecticut and deliver it to them personally. After another 2 months of having this replacement engine the car eventually was running. But there were vacuum leaks, coolant leaks, the passenger fender had a deep scratch on it that happened while left at their shop.

I would’ve appreciated if the owner had a bit more humility and admitted that they weren’t the right mechanic to work on my car and admitted they didn’t have the experience or knowledge to properly get my car up and running again. They wasted 6 months of my time having their car at my shop and it wasn’t fully fixed. I picked the car up without it being fully finished because I was constantly told it would be ready next week for months on end. I was patient, respectful and trusting of their word but I eventually lost my patience with them as they’ve wasted more and more of my time without giving me any communication about the work they have completed without me reaching out to them first.

Having been a customer for 25+ years, Kinney's is the most reliable, honest and thorough automotive service. They're not the cheapest, which can be a good thing.

For 20+ years, I have driven beater cars (100k+ miles) to commute to Utica and Syracuse from Oneida. I much prefer to spend my money locally with Kinneys for repairs, rather than out of town for a new car. (Besides all new cars become old, and the I'll need Kinneys anyway.) I cannot say enough good things about Ned and his team.

PROTIP: If you are a journeyman Auto Mechanic, you would be well served to try to get in as an apprentice.

As we go through life, it's RARE to find other people on similar paths. Concern, pride, and humanity at it's best.

Owner Ned, and Technicians, Gary and Mike assisted us greatly over the past 2- 3days in troubleshooting an electrical issue where the Engine Hot Turn A/C Off message and temp guage dropping to zero had to be examined and rectified.

We were 280 miles from home in Canada when this issue arose and we first went to Ned on a Saturday and he interrupted his day off to attend to the problem. Monday we went back after the cleared codes re - appeared.
After two occasions of these messages, Ned and Gary ran scans, twice replaced the PCM with used units and towed the car to a local GM dealer to reprogram the used PCM's. It turned out that these used modules were faulty from the parts supplier. They then reinstalled the original, examined the temperature sensor, thermostat, rad hoses and coolant levels and recommended that we were not overheating but had a faulty sensor signal and that it would be safe to drive home. (N. B a new unit was only going to be available in 5 days).
Before driving home we did a test drive while monitoring the actual temperature of the coolant, rechecked the hoses and they advised us what to do and listen for if we did have a true overheat condition while driving.
We drove home successfully and the temp guage worked all the way and no Engine Hot - Turn A/C Off message has reappeared.

We were treated with priority, reasonable cost and professionally and truly appreciated their assistance.

I work for a GM Service Dept and have an excellent basis of comparison when I say that I highly recommend these guys!
