*Cafe/coffee shop; nine tables; three tables on sidewalk
Food/drink
*Ciabatta, egg & cheese (organic scrambled eggs, Cheddar cheese, pickled jalapeño & parsley cream cheese, red onion, bacon & avocado) - very good; eggs & cheese melted together perfectly; kick from the cream cheese; good bread
*Chocolate chip cookie - Good; thin; crunchy exterior, chewy interior
*Complimentary water cooler
Had a mini reunion here with the cousins. Food selection was amazing, half the group was vegetarian and it worked out perfectly. Their cauliflower cutlet sandwich is bomb diggity. There was a lot of people and finding a table was a struggle but totally worth it. Delicious oat milk cappuccino!
Love this place! Food is awesome, always great specials, and don't sleep on their weekend dinner service "Sunsets". Run, don't walk!
This place is a dream- the food, staff, experience all come together to make it s truly special treat + experience. I’ve never been disappointed here, or treated with such care anywhere else?
The mortadella sandwich is out of this world, as well as the chicken cutlet sandwich. They have great coffee and the raspberry tarte was exquisite. Great for takeout or casual dining. Really cute spot, I’ve been back a few times.
Groovy little cafe with an extensive sandwich selection and strong coffee. It's also a cool people watching spot!
I reviewed cantine a year ago and I’m updating it now - I think the service has improved a lot, and the food IS simple, but i honestly think the simplicity is what makes it shine. The portions are generous and you’re just tasting the great fresh ingredients. The chicken sandwhich is a stand out (I love when there’s a special that puts a twist on it!) and the baked goods are so decadent. It does get extremely busy here but it’s still one of my favorites. Especially in warm weather when there’s extra space outside.
The food was amazing and they got my order perfectly. Meanwhile the service at the counter was absolutely horrible. The two times I went both different people who took my order were absolutely rude. They were taking my order with a frown and they made horrible comments at me and I was so uncomfortable. And they still expected a 25% tip from me. I was so incredibly upset from the service at the counter. The individuals who brought us the food were incredibly kind but the two people who took my order both times were absolutely rude. I have never felt so uncomfortable. They made me feel horrible and I honestly will not come back until the manager fixes this issue
My boyfriend and I stopped in for lunch after hearing about their delicious cutlet sandwiches and they did not disappoint! He had the chicken cutlet and I tried the cauliflower, both were so good and the perfect bite after a morning thrifting in Bushwick. Will definitely visit again the next time we’re in NYC!
A lovely place to eat in Bushwick - delicious dishes, friendly staff, and a welcoming atmosphere.
This is one of my favorite spots in Bushwick! The Cauliflower cutlet sandwich is on another level. Everything I’ve had here has been exceptional.
Best chicken sandy in Bushwick, best banana bread I’ve ever had (I’ve eaten a lot of chicken sandies and banana bread so that’s saying a lot)! La Cantine is a special place, the staff is amazing, the food is mind blowing. A truly wonderful neighborhood spot.
Thought it was a grocery store, now I know. Great in all ways. Will recommend your place to all my co-workers.
I got one of their special sandwich - spicy red chili and basil mayo with cauliflower cutlet. Although the basil taste was very subtle, the cauliflower cutlet was battered and fried to perfect, crunchy outside and mushy and juicy inside. There could be a bit wait at prime time and the price is a bit high.
