La Casa Del Mofongo Burnside reviews
8The food was not anything special! I had the white rice and beans with lasagna. First time I’ve ever had a chicken lasagna. The chicken was very dry and had a strange aftertaste. I ended up eating only the rice and beans
The very first time I ate here, the Mofongos were amazing. Crispy pork and garlic enhanced this dish. Fast forward past the summer [it's now November] and not only does their food not taste the same, it's far more expensive. The waitresses never seem to know what's on the menu and insist they don't serve it even when you point it out in the menu. Today was the last time I will pick up food from them. Even though I went through a whole explanation of how I wanted my mofongo, it had no taste [No garlic] and no chicharron [just two very small pieces of pernil] which is what I asked for. It was also very hard, as if the plantain's were not cooked through. I can fry up two plantain's, mash it up and end up with a better version without it costing me 16 bucks. The chicken chunks that accompanied it were hard, dry and very small. So small I bruised my gums trying eat the bits of meat around the bone. They tasted old and refried.
NOT happy. My friend wanted to complain. I said what for, they're not going to step it up cause we complained. We just won't come back. If an establishment doesn't have enough integrity and orgullo to continue serving customers the same quality services as when initially opening, it's best to avoid that restaurant. Especially after raising prices on subpar food! Enter at your own risk. If your taste buds are damaged, you should do fine. Ignorance is bliss!
Great little gem ️ in the Bronx. Great service and Happy Hour. This restaurant recently "reinvented" itself and had renovations done to update it.
Food was excellent. Service was very good. Definitely will come back and recommend this restaurant
This restaurant does not measure up to the previous spanish restaurant which it replaced. My family ordered from here with the hope it would be the same if not better than its predecessors. We were very very wrong. I do not like being misled especially with food. We ordered a whole chicken which definitely was NOT CHICKEN.it was hen! We will not be getting our family dinners from here any longer, I don't like to guess the type meat I am eating especially when I am paying for it.
This Tamarind Margarita was everything and more. The service was amazing, friendly and attentive. I was too hungry to get a picture of my food but the ceviche de Camarones was so delicious, had a side of tostones and I could literally eat this salad every single day! Definitely recommend!
