I came here 4 years ago and the food was amazing. I came here tonight and the food all tasted reheated. I appreciate the reduced time it takes to bring food to the table but it’s not worth the reduced quality. The only good food I had were the sorullos, but even then they brought mayoketchup without ketchup. This place had so much potential. It looks so nice inside but the food doesn’t anymore.

This was my first time at La Fonda and it definitely won’t be my last. The service was amazing. The staff were very attentive and detail oriented the food and drinks we’re also really good! I live in CT and will definitely drive back to New York to eat there again! Thank you La Fonda

First time in NY looking for an authentic PR. Food. Found this place online. We waited over 45 minutes for just drinks. I ordered a churrasco platter, it was ok. My wife ordered bacalao con tostones. Did not have any flavor. The drink also was way too strong. The server was taking way too long to even give us salt. We'll not be back.

Went there 12/20/22 in remembrance of my father's 1 year of passing. The pernil was.bland. The porkchops had no taste. The mofongo had a burned taste. Waitress didn't bring us the garlic dip for the tostones. It is really bad when all 6 of us were not satisfied with our meals. We didn't complain cause we were there for my father's memory. We all agreed that we will never go back there again.

My boyfriend and I went to this place for brunch to celebrate a special occasion and we were excited to try this spot because it had a lot of good reviews. It was the worst experience we ever had. First off, the music was extremely loud that we couldn't even hear the waiters and nor they could hear us talk. When we finally put our order in 20 min later, they sent out the wrong appetizer and then 10 min later told us what we ordered was out! We had to order another brunch item and waited over 40 min for food. We ordered the brunch Pernil and it was the most depressing platter I ever seen. They were so cheap with the maduros- they gave 2 miserable pieces the size of a quarter! Are you kidding me? This is Puerto Rican spot and that's all they could give? I should have taken a photo of what was served. We had to ask for utensils, we had to ask for more water, had to ask for another drink- not once did they check on our table. FINALLY- This was the icing on the cake, we asked for the check and they had charged for 4 platters when it was JUST TWO OF US. How do you do you make that mistake? ASK FOR THE PRINTED VERSION OF THE BILL. They were trying to be slick and charge a card fee that did not show up on the card machine when they come over to your table so beware! - by law they have to tell customers that there is a card fee. Def wont be coming back here, you're better off going to Puerto Rico for real food- this place was a disgrace to PR cuisine.

Food was average certain items on menu not available. Service drink orders not always right but we kept them anyway to avoid waiting for new ones or things asked for were forgotten.

Sleepy service, poor food quality. We ordered Eggs Benedict with Pernil and a Burger. The burger patty was literally a frozen burger patty. The menu says they serve steak and eggs but they did not have steak. The Benedict did not have any hollandaise sauce. The “poached” egg was not properly poached nor drained. My plate had water on it which made the tostones very soggy. The potatoes were so dry and were cut into humongous cubes. The staff was inattentive as each of our plates were brought out 5-10 mins apart. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Their food had no flavor and was not even close to authentic. I am not sure how this place got 4.2 stars but it is not even worth one star.

Very dissatisfied. Service was absolutely terrible! I had better service at McDonald’s. Drinks were soso. The owners are nice but they need to restructure their staff. Food was ok.

I couldn’t have asked for a better place to help celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday than an old friend from Highschool who followed his dreams and is a Restaurant owner. You sir have made a place that to quote on friend said “it tastes like I am at my grandma’s house eating dinner”. Any person worth their weight knows how much that means. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was great. The staff was wonderful. Thank you James for having us. I will come back for more when I can and would recommend this place to anyone. Those empanadas are so good. The sauce was so delicious. The Maduros are cooked to perfection. The beans I can’t even describe, I even drank it from the cup jokingly but they really are delicious. So glad we got to eat here.

First option on the menu wasn't available. Ordered a egg Benedict instead. Came with no hollandaise sauce which is the main ingredient. Sat with 4 people. All our meals came out 1 by 1.

This place is so poorly managed. I have been three times, as I like to support the small businesses in my community, but its just terrible. I wanted to give this place an honest chance. The cocktails are equally terrible as the consistency. I ordered a very dirty Gin Martini, and I was served olives with the pit from a goya jar- where are the martini olives? Where is my olive juice? Did you add vermouth. My friend ordered an old fashion and he stated it was terrible. Where is the bitters? Orange peel? A cherry perhaps? Every time we ordered something, they were out of it. My other friend was served some custom drink the bartender recommended, it was lime green. I tasted it as well, and it was just gross. This place needs to go under a serious revamp of management. The owner cannot seem to have any consistency in the food taste, employees (which speaks to the management problem) and drinks are awful. Can you at the very least higher an experienced bartender?

We catered a family birthday dinner party for 12 last night with trays of deliciousness from La Fonda and the food was superb. As always! Our blended Puerto Rican, Dominican, and Polish American household craves and raves for La Fonda. Ordering was seamless and the proportions were very generous. Highly recommend the restaurant and catering experience!

I would give 0 stars if I could. I could barley eat the food. Everything was either undercooked or over cooked. Taste was bland and looked like I could’ve heated it in a microwave at home.we sent the food back and did not pay because we did not eat it. The chef did not take criticism well even though we said it politely.waste of a dinner.

Excellent service and delicious food. It was very nice to patronize a Puerto Rican restaurant in El Barrio with such a nice ambience. Loved the music and the addition of a local artist's work in the decor, just wished it was Puerto Rican art to add to the authenticity.

Crazy overpriced, the only Puerto Rican thing in that place is the decor. The menu has little variety, the serving size of the main entree was ridiculously small. I ordered the churrasco with a mofongo and I was told that they didn't make plain mofongo that it wasn't an option so I decided to get it with arroz con gandules which btw had no puertorican spices, no culantro or cilantro, no sofrito it was gross they also put on my plate their version of a mofongo which even my Jamaican husband was baffled. Now let's talk about the size of the churrasco. When it's priced at 30+ you assume that it'd be a decent size, not a baby churrasco for 35$. The service is horrific just way to slow. I regret not taking a picture of the meal, I was so disappointed and upset about the food and service that I only ate half of the steak and rushed out. NEVER AGAIN!

Great food, great service. Each time I have gone. We live 90 minutes away, worth the trip.

Got delivery and not only got a missing item (Sorullitos), but got the wrong rice and wrong empanadas and when we tried to contact the restaurant to two different numbers, nobody answered and the mailbox was full. I emailed, please reach out. This food was for a YouTube food review, I guess we’ll have to keep it brutally honest.

Edit: thank you for calling back so quickly, we got a discount and a partial refund for the missing and wrong items and I appreciate you fixing the situation. The pernil was delicious, as were the beans with white rice. Maybe one day we will get to try the famous arroz con gandules.
