Lady M Cake Boutique - Upper East Side reviews
13 I always make a list of food places whenever I have a plan to visit New York City. Few years ago, when I was making such list, this place popped up in many blogs. So I added it to my list.
The ambiance of the boutique is very sophisticated. The staff was very nice and helpful. Being a fan of matcha, I got the matcha crepe cake and my friend got the signature crepe cake. They were heavenly.
After going back, I tried finding a similar version of their crepe cake because lady M isn't in my location. None of the ones I tried, came remotely close to these cakes.
Lady M combines French pastry techniques with Japanese sensibilities, that results in delicate cakes that are a touch sweet.
My favorite flavors are matcha, signature and passion fruit.
This is something everyone should try in their lifetime!
Front desk person rolled his eyes at me when we asked for a spot and was being entirely unreasonable. We asked for a table with a small fold up stroller that folds up to the size of a carry-on luggage. He refused to let us sit unless we put the stroller outside of the store. When we asked can we wake our child up and fold up the stroller to sit down - he then said there is no table. This was one of my favorite dessert spot and he ruined it. Terrible experience and he called me a child.
The guy in the photo. He was also talking to a different customer for at least 5 min. With people out the door. That somehow is not a fire hazard but having a piece of carry on luggage behind a chair is. I wonder what they do for people with big bags or travelers with luggage?
The cake did not disappoint, but service was not good - the waitress was quite impatient and rude.
Always my favorite cake shop! Try the butter pecan crepe cake for this season!
I’m waiting for the earl gray crepe cake!
Everything here is just delicious!
A must-cake to try if you are in New York City! Green tea, passion fruit, and original! It is rich in flavor but amazingly light in texture
Huge rain outside. The server asked us to go out because we’re not allowed to dine in. (We’re just waiting for the rain to stop)
Cake is good as usual, just avoid this shop.
The original crepe cake is really good but not incredible especially for the price.
There’s no indoor or outdoor seating, automatic gratuity for an already very expensive cake that cost nothing to make (crepe are extremely cheap to make if you know anything about food)
Also another bad note is that you get these giant show off bags for a piece of cake, talk about creating unnecessary waste.
Overall the cakes are good but the rest isn’t
Mille crepe is the best! I remember almost ten years ago Lady M was a nice little boutique cake store in NYC and now it has gotten so many chain stores everywhere.
Their service was really inhospitable. We hopped in the buy a slice of cake after a long walk there. There was barely anyone in the store. I stood by the entrance to take a breather while deciding which cake to get. (There was no in store seating). Not a minute later the man handling the registrar asked us not to stay in the store. We made it pretty clear we wanted to get cake but they seemed impatient and insistent so we just left.
Saw the same guy do the same thing to another group of girls before us and asked them to leave before they could even decide what to get.
If you are looking for a relaxing place to stop by and enjoy desserts, I do not recommend this location. It is small and they don’t want people to stay. Also there isn’t a great place nearby to sit and enjoy a cake. I recommend to go here only for pick up.
The cakes are delicious, but this location does NOT have any indoor or outdoor seating (as of June 9,2022) so it’s not a great option if you want to sit and enjoy the cake.
FYI We also visited the location at Bryant Park and they did have indoor seating which was nicer to enjoy the cakes with a coffee.
Seem to have good products but no chance to enjoy an experience in peace. You feel rushed. But if you don't mind.
The cake was delicious, there was a large selection of flavors but we chose the classic one and it very tasty.
I haven't had better crepe cakes anywhere else, even in Europe. My only issue going there is which one to pick. The original crepe cake is fantastic! But the chocolate is mouthwatering - light, fluffy, not too sweet. The matcha and hazelnut are always great choices too. I usually leave with several pieces to go.
