Lalibela Ethiopian Restaurant reviews
17We had to postpone our honeymoon to Africa due to COVID so we came here to cheer ourselves up. We had the BEST time! The owner was so helpful and gave us recommendations. This was our first time trying Ethiopian food and we were unsure of what to choose - he was so nice and took time to explain to us. We will definitely be going back. I had the beef stew with lentils and a few other veggies. Everything was delicious. Cozy and comfortable.
First time to the restaurant, food and service exceeded my expectations beyond words. 5 stars rating, look forward to dining there in the coming weeks
I am a fan on Ethiopian food and have tried my fare share of places between NYC and DC. This is hands down my favorite spot. Food is flavorful and genuine. Great homey service as well.worth a trip to South Harlem
Great food with great flavor the service was really precise and pleasant I would recommend the grabbing the Miser Wot very good great spice
The food here is absolutely delicious. We had the special kitfo and the lali assa. Just the special kitfo was enough for two and I’d recommend ordering an extra veggie side if you need. Must try restaurant!
Amazing, 100/10! Service is absolutely incredible, and the food is just as good! Absolutely love this place, and so lucky to live so close. Greatest on the block
Just great. The food is superb. Perfectly cooked, assertively seasoned. This is our neighborhood spot, hands down.
This is a wonderful family run Ethiopian restaurant. The food tastes authentic and the service is great, always with a smile. I gave them 5 stars despite the fact that the Injera didn’t taste fresh last time I was there. I am willing to forgive that just because they’re very kind and wonderful people.
My first time eating Ethiopian. Portions were small but since I had no idea how my stomach would respond, I didn't want to push it. Food was good, a little on the spicy side. Great service. We went on a Saturday afternoon, so only one other group in the restaurant. It didn't make me a fan of Ethiopian but I wouldn't mind going again if someone really wanted that cuisine.
I’ve eaten a lot of Ethiopian food and happened to walk by this restaurant. No one was inside eating but I decided to chance it, also it was a Monday night after 8. I’m so glad I did. Everything was so fresh and perfectly seasoned. Some of the best Ethiopian I’ve had.
I am a huge fan of Ethiopian cuisine. I was excited to try this place because it had overwhelming positive reviews. I ordered the Avocado Tomato Salad, which I have had on numerous occasions, at many different restaurants. Because of a prior reviewer's comments, I made sure to order the non-gluten injira. Overall the food was not bad, but it did not have the flavor or texture that I have come to expect from an Ethiopian Avocado Salad. I also found it interesting that I paid extra for the injira and they only gave me one piece. Overall the food was not bad, it just didn't "hit" like I expected it to.
This is a great little restaurant. Staff is very friendly and helpful, as Ethiopian dining is a bit different to your usual nyc eating experience.
If you would like to try something new and you are not familiar with Ethiopian cuisine, I encourage you to give it a try.
This place is a gem! Absolutely enjoyed the food, delicious and very filling. The service and staff is fantastic, our server had great recommendations and also explained the dishes as it was our first time having this cuisine. I would 100% recommend this to anyone and everyone, if you haven’t dined here yet, I highly recommend you to do so! I ordered the special tibs and my partner got the special kofti. The ambiance is very relaxing as well. Great spot for lunch!
I really enjoy this restaurant. The management and staff are warm and friendly. Never complain when I make adjustments to the orders. The food is fantastic and I enjoy Ethiopian cuisine. Very clean. You can thank me later.
I have visited this restaurant several times. The ambience is spacious and neat, with well-spaced tables. The music is a blend of Ethiopian music and afrobeats. The staff is friendly and attentive. The neighborhood is fun, lively, and active.
I have tried the kitfo, veggie combo, doro wot, gomen-b'siga, timatim fitfit, and the tomato avocado salad; they are superb. The teff enjera is also good. My go-to Ethiopian beer, Habesha, is also available (it's a lager).
My experiences at Lalibela have consistently been good and it's a favorite stop whenever I'm in Harlem.
A surprising & delightful experience. The food is different and delicious. Only 1 lady as bartender & server on Sunday night but she was amazing, attentive & very efficient. We will be back.
