Lana's Barber Shop reviews
15Amazing person who does an amazing job. Listens to you and does exactly what you want. I thoroughly enjoy our conversations as well!
Horrible Horrible job. She had no clue what she was doing. Looked at the photo 3 times and still got it wrong. If you know you can't do a tape up, just say it up front, don't even try. She's more for a trim, not a haircut.
I don’t have enough good things to say about Lana’s. She gives amazing haircuts, it’s unfussy, fast, and $25. A real NY gem.
The stories are true! Lana is a masterpiece craftsperson and a gem of a person. Don’t let the humble exterior deter you. From the minute I entered through the doors i felt welcome and taken care of.
Lana seems to prefer reservations to walk ins now to help manage her day (she is popular!) so while she’d do her best to fit you in, I get a sense you’ll be doing her and yourself a favor to call ahead!
Lana waited for me as her first appointment on a Saturday. She didn't have much to work with but I left looking very sharp.
Don't go an hour before close, she won't take you. And was rude about it. Change your hours of you don't want to take people after 6
Called to make an appointment for my son. Asked how much the haircut would be, which should’ve alerted Lana that I was a new a customer (more on that later). She told me a haircut for my son would be 20-22 dollars. My son got his haircut, at which time I took out my debit card to pay. Then Lana told me it’s a cash only business. I said: “you didn’t tell me that over the phone when I called”, at which point she told me she didn’t realize I hadn’t been there before. I guess the fact that I asked her how much a haircut would be when I originally called didn’t tip her off. Then she advised me I could go to the ATM down the block for the now $24 haircut. So I did, and I paid her. As I was walking out, she rudely said: “most people tip”, I replied: “most people tell their customers that it’s a cash business before they come”. I tipped anyway to be a gentleman about it, but the $2.50 the ATM took probably should’ve sufficed. Also my son’s haircut was pretty amateur. Needless to say, we won’t be going back.
Not only is Lana a beloved fixture of the neighborhood, she makes you feel like you are too. She is the only barber in this area who gives a top-quality haircut at an affordable price. She treats every customer like an old friend and is always professional and attentive. Highly recommended.
I'm new in the neighborhood and came from a place where it doesn't snow. I came in during right after the last snowstorm, with no one on the streets. Lana fussed over me and told me to make sure I get better shoes and make sure I keep my hair and face from getting too dry. I needed someone to care a little extra that day:)
The haircut was excellent too!
First time getting a haircut in NYC, and Lena was phenomenal. Great price, great cut, definitely recommend!
Just so everyone is aware; this place is more like a salon then a barbershop. Seems that walk-ins are welcome but I think she usually works with apppt’s. Not what I was expecting with the big ‘Barbershop’ on the sign outside.
Great service and professional, Lana made sure I was walking out of there with a haircut that I was happy with. Definitely going back.
Lana is old school Carroll Gardens, and she'll tell you about it too. She invested decades at her location on Henry. She is a real asset to the neighborhood. Go support her. She gives good haircuts at reasonable prices.
Great service, one of, if not the best haircuts I’ve ever gotten. Was taken care of even though it was after close. Will absolutely be back and will be recommending to anyone in the area.
Lana is kind and excellent. She's been in this neighborhood for 30 years, and her experience is evident! Would highly recommend
