Malaysian Restaurant Laut reviews
14It's lively and fun. It felt like a street market serving food. Food is mega delicious. May need a reservation as there is often a line. I always feel like someone walks away disappointed with the wait when the come by
The curry laksa was very spicy, but lacked flavor. It was a just lot of noodles. The chicken was steamed thigh that was added to the soup. The iced Teh Tarik was good (reminded me of HK iced milk tea).
Steven was the best. Great food but even better service. I arrived smiling but left cheesing thanks to him. Fantastic experience… warmed my palette but my heart too.
I usually would not pay in foreign currency to eat food that I can get at home. But, needed a hearty home meal in US today.and this, was worth the money. And, honestly, reasonably priced. Portion was good for 2 pax. Had a teh tarik too!
Such an amazing place! We’re vegetarian and don’t eat any fish products. Steve took such good care of us and made sure we got great food on a timely manner. The drinks and ambience sealed the deal. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Great spot near Union Square for authentic Malaysian cuisine. Friendly service and good lunch specials.
If you’re looking for a great place for Malaysian food, eat at Laut! Definitely get the satay - best satay I’ve had, flavorful and tender! Also get the roti chanai, nasi lemak, and Singaporean soft shell chili crab. You won’t be disappointed!
The first time I tried this place was on a friends recommendation when we couldn’t find a table at Thai Villa and I haven’t stopped dining here ever since.
My go to place everytime someone is visiting, and is in mood for a wholesome flavourful meal.
My usual order is Spicy Rendang (veggie) with coconut rice and Roti Telur.
Most things on the menu are pretty good though.
Service is quick ans the overall vibe is fun ans bustling. Great for dining with friends!
Had a native Malay at our table - the food at Laut is definitely a step above. Flavors a bit more complex, even with the classic dishes. Enjoyed the drunk man noodle, tandoori chicken skewers, fried okra, beef rendang. Steven the server was great. All in all - a great meal and this restaurant has been around for quite some time in the Union Square area - which says a lot given the neighborhood’s appetite for turnover.
Laut is a nice Malaysian restaurant in the heart of Union Square. The food is really great. The options in the menu are good and the quantity is good as well. Sometimes it takes time to get service, but overall its a good place!
We had a good experience at Laut. Steven helped us out and he was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. We will be back!
Intensely flavored food. We ordered the nasi lemak, curry laksa, tamarind hot pot, roti canai, chicken satay. Thank you Steven for being attentive and making good recommendations.
Easily my favorite restaurant in NYC! The food is incredible and authentic, my favorite is the spicy market fried rice with the Chinese sausage and the beef rendang. The service is just as good as the food, very quick, everyone is so kind and happy to offer suggestions if you’re overwhelmed by the menu. Steven is my favorite - so sweet and helpful, always smiling and will make you want to come back just for him!
Excellent food, large portion and friendly and professional service. If you love Malaysian food, LAUT is an amazing restaurant or if you haven't tried then you must try this for the experience. The Roti Canai was great, the Malaysian curry was top-notched and Beef Rendang curry was phenomenal. Vegetarian options are good and variable.
