Lip Lab By BITE reviews
15Very disappointing experience. My mom and I were on a girls trip to celebrate my graduation and saw this activity on the internet and where so excited to make our own lipsticks and it seemed so much fun, however it was the opposite and a waste of our time. The girl who was our “colour specialist” was Anna who had no clue what she was doing. We showed her pictures of lip colours we like, shades on the papers they gave us and described it to her and she did not listen to what we wanted. It was so bad to the fact that another co worker had to come and help her find my moms colour because she did not understand what to do. She wasted our time and ruined our experience. Not sure if she was new but she was no lip colourist. If that’s not that bad we where practically forced out because a party of 23 was coming in. This was NOT our fault that Anna was taking forever and we had made an appointment so we should not be kicked out. The customer service was awful and they seemed to treat us horribly as when this party of 23 came in they where so kind and joyful and with us they where so rude. Don’t bother going, your better going to Sephora or ulta to find a pretty lipstick. The experience sounds nice but in reality it’s not.
I'm not one to wear makeup often, but I would still recommend Lip Lab to anyone who wants to have a customized start!
The staff was overall very friendly and my lab tech (Ana) was happy to take their time to get the perfect shade + finish just for me and my friend.) I left with exactly what I wanted and would come back just for her again!
The lip lap experience was not as promised. We were supposed to have our lipsticks caps engraved but their machine stopped working. So they took our addresses and promised to send us our engraved caps. I received my cap today in the mail and it has the wrong engraving.
We also paid and extra party fee which promised we would get the room for a girls day out (birthday party). That never happened despite being promised.
Lastly, my friends and I all requested matte lipsticks. They are shiny!
We booked an appointment for 6 people and made sure to ask if there was enough time in the slot to cover all of us; they assured us over the phone that it was totally okay to take 1-2 hours for the 6 of us. We arrive and are promptly seated with Courtney, who was absolutely phenomenal at getting our custom lip shades and such a lovely person to work with.
Halfway through the process, another employee named Josh came to assist Courtney with our group. He was very dismissive of our feedback on the lip shades he mixed for us, and kept reminding us that we had to wrap up in an hour (even though the rep told us over the phone that 2 hours would be given to a group of our size). He further created a hostile environment by misplacing one of the mixing jars and blaming Courtney, as well as insisting that we accept a mint scented lipstick when we requested pomegranate, and refusing to remake the lipstick.
And finally, our engraved lipstick caps came back misaligned and with random different fonts. When we asked for them to be fixed, Josh told us that the engraving machine was broken and asked us to wait outside the store while they were finishing our lipsticks, before our hour timeslot was even up.
For $60 per custom lipstick, this was absolutely not the experience we were looking for.
My experience at the lip lab was honestly a bit disappointing and not quite what I was expecting. During my session, I felt pretty rushed and was in and out in under 30 minutes, when the website mentioned that sessions usually last about 1 hour. The whole experience felt pretty impersonal as well, since I was thinking that I was going to be a little bit more involved with the whole creation process. All they did was ask me what kind of color I wanted, sat in silence, and the tried on the color they made for me. That was it. Their engraving machine was also broken, which was something I really wanted as part of my customized lipstick. I won’t be returning here.
We had an amazing time! We visiting from Dallas TX and E was so helpful, personable and knowledgeable. She helped us pick the perfect shades of lip stick and education us on the perfect lip colors for each of our different skin tones.
I booked an appointment to get a color for my wedding! The lab tech made the perfect color on the first try! They then made me a beautiful red - I've never been able to find a red to suit me. This is a great place for brides and for a girls weekend.
Disappointing experience. Sat at the first set of stools by the door and was repeatedly interrupted because the artist had to keep greeting those entering the building. Seems rude to me when you are paying decent money for this product. Also felt that my artist was not helpful at all. I was told that I needed to suggest colors to them and needed to “steer the ship” with the color choice. Sorry, isn’t that what they are supposed to do as the “color experts”? I would consider trying a different location with better service but would never return here.
Booked the private room for six as a birthday surprise for my BFF.
You're able to make lipstick to your specifications i.e. Color, finish, flavor and work on it until you're completely satisfied. The tech works with you no matter how many changes you make and you leave with your lipstick (feel free to make and pay for more than one), your formula so you can duplicate the color whenever you like, as well as a goodie bag of products. Start thinking of a creative name for your lipstick so the tech can laser it on to the top of the tube. Nice touch.
This is a great activity if you're looking to do something different with your girls.
Amazing experience for a girls day out! You get to pick the perfect shade while choosing from many different colors. Kaitlyn was amazing in helping us!
We had Grant and he was absolutely amazing! Throughout the entire experience he made sure to let us know what he was doing as he went through the process from start to finish.
It would have been a better experience if the person assisting me wasn't sick. She kept coughing the entire time which was very concerning, especially since we are living in covid times!
Came here for a fun activity with my friends on a Sunday afternoon. We had to wait a bit; about 20 minutes before we were seated. Our technician was patient and had good recommendations for all of us. We were pleased with our lip colors and experience. The only thing is we were a little rushed toward the end. Overall a great experience we will definitely be back!
Staff is friendly and attentive. You, or your party, get undivided attention, and they really work with you to get the color perfect!
I used to work here. Very surprised they’re still open. They’ve always been really disorganized and the manager doesn’t have a clue.
They seem to delete a lot of low rated review yet they’ve had quite a bit of complaints in the past. It seems this location lacks the transparency customers deserve and fail to address very real concerns that have been highlighted in many reviews.
I really enjoy the brand but this location is extremely unprofessional. For what it’s worth, it was a blessing in disguise to move forward working with another company. Yikes. Good luck girls.
Oh—Emphasis on girls. They’re kind of immature. Sorry. Maybe try hiring somebody more mature that clients can relate with. Language here is questionable too. The associates had questionable conversations openly about their activities outside of the store. Hope that’s changed. TMI for anybody’s taste.
