Lock 20 State Canal Park reviews
18Park and pavilion area for local meet ups and picnics. Plenty of fishing access and area for bikers to camp over night
Nice place for walking, sitting down to read a book, or have a family meal. Bring bug repellent as there are a few mosquitoes. Parking is plentiful.
Just a quick visit by an out-of-towner from the Lock 32 area. Nice clean park, friendly people, and fun piece of history.
It's a park with grills and tables and if ur lucky u will see the lock be used. I love the canal trail that's main reason to go.
We went for a walk on the paved trail. Trail is wide enough for walkers and wheelchairs. We saw many people pole fishing and enjoying the beautiful. Lots of people walking the trail - they were friendly but not pushy. There were many picnic tables. It was pretty there, many wildflowers and cattails!
Beautiful day at the Erie Canal lock #20. Had the chance to see the lock in operation which was a double treat. Lovely park with plenty of tables and benches, as well as a well maintained grass field. Highly recommended if you want to see a fully operational historic lock up close.
This lock features a small park with tables and benches to relax with plenty of shade trees. There are areas where it is safe to closely watch the boat traffic and operation of the lock gates.
Great little park. If you're lucky, you can see the lock open and close to let a boat through.
It's very cool to see how the locks work. You have access to walk all around and on top of the lock. They have picnic area and places to fish with bike trails right there that follows the canal into Utica.
Well kept, working lock. Lovely picnic area right on the Erie Canal Trail. Easily accessible.
I must warn you people.this is a very relaxing place, the scenery, trail, view of the boats And transfer point is amazing. But it is mosquito season. Don't be fooled or you will get eaten alive. Wear long sleeves and sweats or jeans and enjoy the small things that are wonderful.
Nice, free park with plenty of room for multiple people to fish on either side of the Barge Canal. Mohawk River is within walking distance (didn't confirm access to it though). Only small Brown Goby fish were biting when we fished here on a cloudy afternoon.
It was super cool. For the time I got to see it in action. A sailboat coming through from the Thousand Islands headed to South Carolina
I was there last Saturday it's one of the few locks that is pretty busy and very interesting
What a lovely place to walk and just relax by the water. For a special treat, check out all of the unique artful benches. Some of them need some love but they're still pretty cool! And bonus for Pokemon go players - they're each a PokeStop!
We'll have to revisit this lock for kayaking Once the construction is done and the rain which prevented us from being more adventurous ends
Paved and gravel trail perfect for walking and biking. Access for fishermen. Locks let you walk across. Bathrooms were closed on 6/16/21, but Porta potties were there.
The trailways are always a must for an adventurous type and even sporty people. The water and the canal are always a shining light into New York States history.
