Lorenzo State Historic Site reviews
17 The furnishings in this house were incredible.
For any unique object you see in the house, there is detailed information available regarding its age. Our guide was open to any and all questions and a pleasure to be with. Had a wonderful time.
Beautiful historic site that has been impeccably maintained. Our tour guide, Liz, was fantastic! 10/10 recommend visiting.
Beautiful place to visit. Tour guide was excellent. So much to see here. The home, furnishings, history, grounds. You won’t be disappointed.
Being direct descendents and to have stayed there when my great grandfather George Strawbridge Ledyard Jr lived in the home it was a magical week bringing my grandchildren there to witness their heritage. I have to thank the staff for making our visit feel like we "came home". My grandchildren Ayden 15, and Olivia 7 were enthralled by it all. Watching them play on the grounds and gardens and they loved the Dark Isle, was like seeing myself and my siblings playing as children there. My gratitude for all the workers that keep the houses and grounds impeccably manicured. It's really like it stands still in time for the world to appreciate it's splendour as my family had for many many many generations. Simply wonderful. I'm sure my grandkids will bring their children and future generations back to enjoy.
Do not put off visiting. Really great origin story of cazenovia, effect of erie canal we never considered, and enjoyable house amd grounds exploration.
Our docent was so incredibly enthusiastic you would have thought she grew up at Lorenzo.
She kept us informed and involved throughout the tour with anecdotes about the numerous families who lived at the mansion, and their lifestyles.
I can't wait to go back!
Great little place if your passing thru Upstate New York it is a 5 star if your comparing to other parts of the country it is a 4
The gentleman that was our guide (former history teacher) was wonderful & answered any question we had. He truly knows the property. Very much appreciated.
Very enjoyable tour of the house with a very knowledgeable guide. We enjoyed our stroll through the gardens and the views of the lake. Unfortunately the visitor center was closed due to storm damage.
We had a fascinating tour guide. Lesley was very good at telling the story behind the house and its owners.
If you're here for the geocaching, the caches were fairly straightforward with really pretty fields and wildflowers to walk through. Bathrooms were open although the historic site was closed when I went (Tuesday).
Beautiful find on the back roads we just ran into. Stopped to stretch legs and let our dog out to pee. Nice property, garden area was nice, small gift shop.
This is sec time there stopped with friends whom never been there they really liked the tour of the estate and the guide was excellent
Beautiful gardens. Trails along the meadows and into the woods make sure some fun hikes. The main house and visitor center are only open certain days - so make sure to check before you go.
Visited Lorenzo this weekend and were given a very nice tour of the home by our tour guide Charlie. The inside of the home is beautiful and the view of the lake from the front porch is enviable. The previous homeowners' history was a little hard to follow, it seems every generation's missus was a Helen. This house has interesting stories of the things they did to improve it over the years. I appreciated that the history of the people who were enslaved on this site were mentioned in our tour.
The house was closed when I visited as this was the final stop on a long day of historical tourism but I was still able to walk the grounds and see the beautiful gardens. All were well maintained and groomed. There is also some restoration work going on the front of the home currently.
