MADRE, Brooklyn NY

This was my first time visiting Madre, I was here to celebrate a family member birthday with friends.

We all had been checking this place for weeks since it looks super amazing on maps.

However, based on my 1st experience I was only gonna give the place a one star goggles review just because of how disappointing the experience was.

But the only reason for me giving it a 3 stars instead of one star it's because our frustration was noticed by Mr. Jean Carlos Peralta the General Manager, he definitely tried provide a good experience.

Honestly: the food and drinks we ordered was not up to part we had to return almost all our drinks at one point yet they just left at our desk and one of the ladies serving said well it's free alcohol we had to insisted on having the drinks removed from our table.

Problem with the drinks: they were over iced making them diluted or unbalanced making them too sour.

It felt like the staff was just rushing without tasting the food and drinks before delivery it to the table.

I hope someone management takes the time to help improve their food and drinks.

I had been following Madre on Instagram for a year dying to try their food, so I was so excited when my friend made a reservation. We showed up and immediately were taken care of; they even brought us champagne for my friend's birthday. We had the most beautiful table set up, the service was immaculate, and the food did not disappoint. All of our servers gave incredible recommendations, were extremely kind and helpful, and the general manager Jean Carlos provided us with one of the most special meal experiences we have ever had. I will be telling everyone I know about how amazing our night was. Definitely plan on heading back there as soon as I can.

PERUVIAN APPROVED! Madre is amazing! All dishes are inspired by the vibrant flavors and unique flavors of Peru, Italy, Spain, and the Mediterranean region.

I read an article on chef John Turnbull's passion for food which you can see it shines through in every dish. It makes you travel by showing you each culinary magic from Peruvian fusion ceviches, Italian pasta, to Spanish tapas.

My taste buds were transported to Lima with all the flavors and the bursting with freshness and perfectly balanced flavors. A unique fusion that left me wanting more. And the pumpkin dish? Pure artistry on a plate!

Dessert is a must! The guava soufflé is a must-try, a light and fluffy finale that will leave you dreaming of banana ice cream and creme cheese on your next visit.

This isn't just a meal, it's an experience. If you're craving and a taste of something truly special, Madre is our new go-to. I'll definitely be back with friends.

Everything was well executed. The menu is fairly compact but done well. I much prefer that than the extensive menus that barely do anything good.

We had two complimentary dishes that night, an appetizer with chips/dip and also a miniature creme brulee. Both were great!

Beautiful in every way! Natalia was such a wonderful hostess. She treated us as if we were angels descended from heaven. Everyone on the staff made us feel right at home. 10/10 would recommend.

Ok so found this place on tik tok and it actually lived up to the hype. Went for brunch and would highly recommend. Every dish we got we loved. Here’s what we got:

- cornbread Madeleines: definitely worth it, great start to the meal
- croquettes: I usually don’t love truffle but this is a well made dish where nothing overpowers. Would def get again
- fluke ceviche: definitely the most out there thing we ordered. Would get again if looking to be adventurous
- burger: one of the best burgers I’ve had in greenpoint in months
- French toast: holy mackerel this was the best French toast I’ve ever had. Looking for a sweet brunch? Get this
- Octopus: this is great, and their marquee dish from what I can tell. Light and refreshing.

In a world of inflated ratings, Madre deserves 6/5 stars. This is a standout restaurant, with creative plates at their very best and cocktails pushed to perfection. This culinary team clearly understands good food. Not to be outdone, the service was impeccable, friendly, and welcome with perfect recommendations for courses, drinks, and amaro. My party of 2 ordered croquettes (perfect), ceviche (wonderful), octopus (delicious), chicken (AMAZING), with a side of cornbread madeleine that were just as worthy of praise as the 24-hour smoked chicken. Tempted by dessert, we ordered the pink guava souffle which was absolutely worth it and a perfect cap on the evening. I'm running out of adjectives but I had to also mention that we were treated to a homemade potato chip and chive dip amuse bouche and a pre-dessert chai creme brulee which were damn near perfect as well. Dinner at Madre is one of the best meals I've had in New York in the last several months, and if Madre is not on the Michelin star short list it should be.

Superb. Came here for brunch, would strongly encourage people to share to try as many plates as possible.

The ceviche is a must, croquetas are also incredible (I'm Spanish, so trust me on this one). Pastas were also 10/10.

Overall, an awesome experience. Justifies the trip to Greenpoint!

Food was disappointing, nothing really hit the spot for any of the dishes. Some dishes they tried such as the pink guava soufflé was an absolute miss. Not worth the trip here. Everything else in this experience was average but the service staff were nice.

Madre in Greenpoint truly exceeded my expectations. As someone who tends to be skeptical about restaurants endorsed by food influencers, I was pleasantly surprised by Madre's exceptional quality. The food was an absolute delight, boasting a unique and delicious flair that made every penny worth it. What stood out even more was the generous portion size of most dishes.

I must highlight my favorites—the sweet potato lobster pasta and the truffle madame croquets were absolutely outstanding. The staff were incredibly accommodating, making the overall experience even more enjoyable. If you manage to secure a reservation, consider yourself lucky; I highly recommend it! If you live rather far away from here, I still say it’s worth the trek.

And let's not forget about the desserts—simply fantastic! Madre in Greenpoint is a culinary gem that I'll undoubtedly visit again.

Terribly disappointed with this 4.8star rating spot. I went with my friends and all of us were horrified by the standards of the dishes they served. One of my friends said “The best thing here was the water” the chicken liver mousse was a diluted attempt and we could not finish it.the pork was a confusing mix of spices and so was the cornbread madeline. The pink guava souffle should have never been created let alone be on their menu, it tasted like what a 3year old would have concocted. The price is so steep for such subpar food. Never coming back.

From being escorted to our seat to walking out full and happy. This restaurant gives you exotic flavors. The happy hour oysters are delicious. The cocktails have a unique blend of bitters and creativity. Highly recommend trying both brunch & dinner menus.

Food was great! Warning, though - they only make a limited number of the soufflé and run out around 8-8: 30 on Saturday. We were pretty disappointed when they told us they were all sold out at the end of our meal as this wasn’t noted anywhere on their menu.
