Magnolia Bakery - Grand Central reviews
17Went from being amazing several years ago to being too sweet stale and krap now. The cake is now Not worth the price of a dish at restaurant.
Always have to have my cup cake fix when traveling through Grand Central. My personal favorite is chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting.
Wonderful place for treats in the Midtown area. I simply cannot get enough of their cheesecake with blueberry topping. Yum!
The cappuccino was pretty good. We arrived around 12: 30 on a Friday and they were out of all their gluten free goodies except coconut macaroons. They were tasty.
Sweets and sweeter cakes, cookies, muffins, cupcakes among others. A place to grab a quick bite of sweets or a hot or cold drink.
Cupcake quality is not the same anymore after it got bought by a PE firm … they are so small now that they don’t fill up the box package and they cost $4+ each. Very sad looking cupcakes. No joy from seeing or eating it. I wonder if the original owners (the sweet old ladies) are rolling over their graves.
Zero star for cupcakes. Two stars for the staff - helpful and courteous.
This is the worst Magnolia Bakery location ever. I have been here three times. Every time I go there, small banana pudding is all sold out, and they have only medium or large. The proportion of banana, cream, and wafer was not even. I once got one with only cream and wafer, no bananas in it!
Worst customer service especially the lady who was working this morning. Along with the disgusting banana pudding, i ordered cold brew but they didn’t have that ready yet so instead i asked for iced espresso. When the lady handed me the cup with espresso and some ice cubes, i thought i could turn this into iced americano with some water so I asked if she could add some water in it. I don’t know if she didn’t want to do it or she wanted me to order iced americano from the beginning, she literally kept mumbling about it until I left the store.
I felt very humiliated and i’m NEVER ever coming back to this store again.
If you’re looking for better service and the proper cupcakes and banana puddings, VISIT OTHER STORES AND THANK ME LATER.
They have the best chocolate cake. If you are a fan of frosting you will love Magnolia’s buttercream. It’s fresh, flavorful n sweet…just the way I like it. Their chocolate cake w/chocolate buttercream is so smooth n creamy. Whenever I’m back in NYC I have to stop in. They have a new location in Penn Station (now Moynihan Transit). Customer service was great, cakes even better!
There was a lot of hype about this place. I did not really enjoy it though. Maybe need to try a few more things
The pudding itself isn't as amazing as you'd hope for. It's just too thick. It's like eating a bowl of thick whipped cream that doesn't have a deep banana flavor. That said, the line moves fairly quickly. If you can stand the high prices and are desperate for pudding then give this a shot, otherwise, go check out another bakery.
Good. But difficult to locate it. Banana Puddings have various tastes depends on how roped they used.
The best place in NYC for cakes. Their Must try items are banana pudding and vanilla chocolate buttercream cake slice, it’s just heaven. So soft and moist with perfect ratio to cake and cream, not too sweet very well balanced. Every bite feels like putting a piece of cloud in your mouth.
Get the banana pudding! It’s heavenly. I didn’t know I liked banana pudding until I tried Magnolia’s and now, I’m hooked. Love that they’re located in Moynihan train hall so I can pick some up before I get on the train. They offer many different flavors in cake slices.
Always love the new flavors that come out but the classic always has a calling with me. Definitely worth a stop whenever you can
Got some Great Banana pudding today and the Customer service was great. Noel was great under pressure when we had so many questions. She knew exactly what we needed and helped us with a smile. Definitely need more people like her in NYC.
First of all the customer service was bad, the server wanted to serve thr group of white girls behind me until I insisted with her colleague that I have not been served. Bought a rainbow cookie, banana pudding and a chocolate iced vanilla cupcake. The rainbow cookie my aunt and cousin enjoyed. The cupcake also. The banana pudding was for myself and I had 3 spoonfulls of it only. It was just bananas and cream, the biscuit was nice I believe it needed more to add to the texture. All in all I have tried magnolia bakery and have been impressed by their cake - especially chocolate. This branch I may not revisit in a hurry.
