Italian Restaurant Maialino reviews
27Just too overpriced, we ordered grilled octopus, spaghetti carbonara, and crackling pig. For this kind of restaurants you would expect small portions but for that price they need to be super tasty. And for both of us it was just regular. Crackling pig was good, potatoes was a little burned but for 58$ you would expect more. I was supper excited on our way there but after the dinner i was just disapointed
Was our third or fourth time back to Maialino, and I really don't have anything bad to say about the restaurant. From the service to the wine selection, the appetizers, and the amazing pastas. This time we sat at one of the "bar" tables, as walk-ins, and despite some noisiness, it worked out perfectly.
Holy smokes, Danny Meyer just doesn't miss. The common current of every Meyer joint is a non-happenstanced coziness. Mailalino is no exception to this rule, boasting a great staff, wonderful fresh pastas and a wine list that's to die for.
As close as you can get to Italian food in New York. Excellent wine and friendly service. Better atmosphere for dinner than at lunch
Amazing Italian food. Cacio e Pepe was a little salty, however the ravioli my husband got was finger licking good. It’s pricey but worth it for a nice night out in the city. Wine list was extensive too.
A must go for Italian fares. Atmosphere is trendy but not fake, restaurant is both spacious and snug thanks to the classic wood furniture and checkered tablecloths. We ate at the bar which allowed us to enjoy the bar snacks and the full dinner menu. The fried potato skins were surprising, with a bit of creamy pecorino and chillies. The vegetable tempura was light and original, with fennel and salsify if I'm not mistaken. The pasta were fabulous. Al dente, with some cracked pepper and pecorino, and bits of guanciale, sort of Italian bacon, salty, powerful, crispy and melting at the same time. So good. Wine selection is very interesting but - extremely - expensive, it's a shame. Cocktails are not worth your time. Service is friendly and professional. No tipping establishment.
After seeing all the positive reviews, I am appalled at how disappointing my pasta was: the fettuccine alla carbonara was dry, overly salted (and I have a high tolerance for salt), and mediocre in flavor. The contadino was not bad. The classic bloody mary was average. The gelato was the saving grace. The staff was amiable and the service was good. We dined during weekend brunch and it wasn't particularly busy. Gratuity included, but portions are quite small for the price (which I wouldn't mind if the food was better).
