Dominican Restaurant Malecon reviews
15It was very busy but the staff was great and the food and proportion were even better. One of my favorite spots.
The food is dry, tasteless and unsatisfying. I came here during my lunch break because there were so many people at the restaurant. I thought it must be good - but I was wrong. I got the rotisserie chicken and fried plantains. The rotisserie chicken was dry and unseasoned, the plantains not even having any ounce of taste. I was left so sad after my lunch on my 13 hour shift. I won't ever come back here. Deceiving as it's so busy, but for really bad food!
Sandwiches are great, service is a little slow. We didn't care much for the grilled chicken breast with mushrooms. If we go again we will try the rotisserie chicken.
It's location is convenient if traveling by public transportation. Finding parking if driving can be challenging. The interior was decorated modestly, no gaudy decoration as one might expect. The food was outstanding, authentic and large portions. No one stares when packing up one's left over. It's so plentiful you will be astonished. And prices are reasonable in comparison to the amount of food one is served. The flavorful, rotisserie chicken alone is not to be missed.
Really good food and tons of it! One meal could feed 2 or 3 people and the chicken is amazing.
I really enjoyed my meal-Crispy bacon, queso frito and pure de malanga. The coffee is strong and delicious.
The atmosphere was festive, decorated beautifully for Christmas.
Staff was efficient and very considerate. I'll visit again. Lots on the menu to try!
AMAZING. The food portions are huge and everything was tasty. Even ordered in Spanish and the waiter was super patient with me
No joke. The prices for the portions are NOT a joke. Worth every penny.
This has been one of my favorite spots for years and it’s still consistently on point with everything I love to order. There is a reason they have a line to get in and it’s worth the wait. Chicken is always fire. I do think this is the best location however have tried the others but nothing compares to Washington heights
The best Dominican food in The Heights. Their customer service is amazing! Very affordable priced & they give you hefty portions. I ordered the sancocho among other items. It was literally the best sancocho I’ve had in my life besides going to DR. 10/10 all around.
Visiting this restaurant over more than 20 years is always a pleasure, yes, fast-paced and noisy, but the atmosphere is welcoming, the dining area suitably laid out, clean and well maintained; the staff, wait and cleaning/busboy, are attentive and unobtrusive, allowing patrons their privacy. The food, Americanized Dominican, was typical, well cooked, tasty (depends on what you get), yet lacking accustomed spiciness, the portions large and filling. The entire restaurant seemed to operate as a well oiled machine, each person committed to their assigned task and doing it to the best of their abilities, even in the face of difficult customers, maintained their professionalism and customer service.
Pricey, but delicious food! Great place to go to for a small family dinner. Chill atmosphere
As a cuban cuisine aficionado (Miami bering the epicenter!), I entered Malecon with extremely high expectations. Live the atmosphere. Almost has a Versailles (Miami. 8th street) vibe reflexrimf the neighborhood around Washington Heights (think movie.). Lived the "smells" of mom's kitchen. Malecons serves a nice mix of Latin cuisine reflecting the differences between many different Latin cultures. The atmosphere carries the day for the experience. The service targets throughput, which is ok (just focused on serving quickly and turning tables). Pricing for the quantity of food was solid. Just note that it felt like most of the food is pre-prepared in large quantities to help facilitate serving a lot of patrons. This method can result in potentially drier portions or even less seasoning or taste. I liked the food, loved the atmosphere and location, and was most appreciative of the restaurant's efforts to promote our culture! Adelante!
This is a nicer location than the other one I have been to on the upper West side the food was pretty good but i wish the service could have been better in terms of speed when i was finished and ready for my check.
Great Mexican food. Service is great as well. Can get a little crowded at times, but otherwise it's a good place to hand out.
