Mama Mia, New York NY

If I could give a minus 5 stars for service, I would give it to this place. I was there with my wife and 3 kids. Service was poor quality and it was very long before we got our food. But the greatest insult came with the bill. They tried changing us 20% tip under the pretext of it being a law in New York.
They ended up correcting the bill and got no gratuity at all.
Manager never even showed up although we were clearly upset.
At least they got me motivated enough to write this short episode.
Keep your eyes open when the bill comes!

We happened upon this restaurant on the first night of our NY trip and we’re so impressed we went back the next night. We sat in the outdoor covered patio so quieter and lovely with the greenery. Also enjoyed the live entertainment.

What a great night! We walked in a little late and the amazing service started. Our server was fun and very helpful. Her suggestions for drinks and dessert were spot on. We loved the entertainment "Going Local Duo" played a great assortment of popular jazz. They were great. On the whole, super friendly staff, great food! A place we will certainly come back to.

I was eating alone, and once seated, and I told them I didn't want any drink but water, I was quite forgotten about, until someone took my order, and then over 30 minute later, the food STILL had not arrived. Staff said they "would check on it" and did not return for another 10 minutes. When I finally got my meal (40 + minutes after i ordered) it was OK, but nothing special. I felt very ignored and forgotten about. The staff seemed busy and unorganized. Not a friendly experience, and I won't be going there again anytime soon.

Nice Italian restaurant.
We sat down there for dinner only thanks to a couple of cute jazz players who played beautifully. We ordered a pizza and a couple of drinks, the pizza arrived quickly but was tasteless and soft.
When we finished eating the waiter urged us to order more and when we politely refused he simply handed us the bill. I should note that the restaurant was half empty. In addition the bill included a 20% tip and another 3% commission for those paying by credit.

Great dinner and live music. It was the perfect way to spend our last evening in NYC. Thank you Connie for the Schiattarella hospitality!

We popped in from a long day exploring the city with colleagues. We met one of the owners and she was really nice! The food was superb, the chicken Marsala was on point, ravioli excellent and the drinks were strong and delicious. Jazz music was playing outside which made the night relaxing and entertaining. 5 stars all around!

I went for lunch with my son on a Saturday around 1 pm. We were the only 2 people there. Another table with a family were leaving when we got there. The waitress put on the table a basket of mini corn muffins, yes! Corn muffins and butter instead of Italian bread, I don’t know any other Italian restaurant that serves corn muffins instead of real bread, we are not in Alabama guys. We ordered two simple pasta dishes with chicken and it took 35 minutes to be served on our table (we were the only two humans there). The worse part is that the chicken was so over done that it was chewy and dry.
Not a good experience for me and my son. The device was ok, average to low for Manhattan and the location. The waitress became very defensive when I nicely Poot it out that the chicken was overly cooked and dry.
High prices for bad Italian food. Please serve some Italian bread next time.

This place is amazing. Their Tiramisu is the best I've ever tasted. The restaurant has a vintage and rustic atmosphere, perfect for enjoying authentic Italian food. The dishes are delicious, and the service is top-notch.

I unfortunately did not have a good experience at brunch Sunday. The management only hired one waiter and one busboy for the restaurant during peak brunch hours and they were clearly overwhelmed. The service was subpar not due to their performance but due to the poor management not knowing when their restaurant is actually busy.

The drinks took about an hour to come out after we sat down. The drinks themselves were pretty good in comparison. It was just coffee and bellini, nothing complicated.

I ordered an omelette that took even longer to come out. It was overcooked and hard. It had hair on it (pictured). The waiter took the dish back and gave me $1.50 off. Normally when you have hair show up in your food you would get a new dish or the item comped. Taking off $1.50 just made the experience worse on top of the service.

For that experience, I had to pay 20% gratuity (included in the bill) and then are asked to tip even more on the receipt. The management seriously needs to reconsider how they staff this place and treat situations where there is hair in the food.

The food is always amazing here. My favourite place to eat in Hells Kitchen. The chicken Parm is always my go to. Caesar salad, and bruschetta is fantastic as well. It's one place you can't miss when your here in NYC, hence my parents coming here for the past 15 years. The service and atmosphere is amazing as well. See you next time Connie!

Definitely won't be coming here again for the following reasons:

We originally were told we couldn't sit at a table for four because we were a party of two but yet the very next party of two that came in was given the very table we were told we couldn't sit at.

Our waitress completely disappeared on us and we had to have different people take care of us.

Our bill was originally charged wrong.

The veal special was $40 and I don't think I could have gotten a smaller piece

But the atmosphere is great especially with the live music.

This was the best Italian food I’ve ever had. The chicken parmigiana and chicken Alfredo were delicious. We wanted to find great Italian in New York and this was it. The service was awesome! Very friendly staff.

Had a great time with my friend Hannah at Mama Mia! I got the marscapone stuffed challah french toast and it was delicious! Also appreciated that the brunch offer included a drink. My Bellini was delicious. Definitely want to come again!
