Mamoun's Falafel - Greenwich Village, Manhattan, NY reviews
15 Always a hit, and Never a miss!
Falafels are what they are known for. Shawarma is mediocre at best. Don’t try the sweets they are dry af. As of lately you can’t park on the side anymore because the places around set up outdoor seating booths.
The OG falafel spot. Great tasting food made to order and the service is quick. I stop by when ever I get the chance. Becareful with the hot sauce, it’s really hot!
The falafels are super delicious but the pita sandwich we got was mediocre at best. There was way too much lettuce and tomatoes in the sandwich to begin with and hardly any falafel. The pita bread tasted a little sour and not fresh.
Look, it is an old school NYC hole in the wall original. You are not coming here to impress a woman with ambiance, service, and decor. You are coming here because the food consistently awesome, the price reasonably adjusted for inflation over time, and you don't mind doing takeout and eating at the park or somewhere else.
My consistent goto: the falafel sandwich, lentil soup, and baklava for later. Usually comes to $11, but I only a few years ago it was $8. Still a good deal. And still tastes great!
Have you always wanted to try the authentic NY style halal food but didn’t trust the food carts enough (any new yorker who tried halal carts has at least one horror story) ? Well, mamoun’s may be just the place for you. There falafels are to die for (which makes sense because of their name literally has falafel in it). But everything else is just as good. They have some seating too, although they are very limited. Worth a try if you’re in the area.
Price wise reasonable. Had the falafel sandwich for $4.50, portion size was a little on the smaller side.
There was a bitter taste in the spicy sause they added. Bottom half had a falafel or two top half filled with tomatoes (needs better salad) Not that impressive and Not quite sure what the fuss is all about, have had better.
BEST FALAFEL! Thanks to tour guide from “free tours by foot” we discovered this gem in the area that is open late! The Side of falafel balls comes with tahini dip (sesame seed paste) and ask for hot sauce too! You will want doubles! Or triples! Yum! Falafel is just chickpeas and tons of parsley authentically gluten free! They also have the cheapest water bottles here $1! This place is a gem! (Not so hidden!)
Everything at Mamouns is so so good! Comparing the sandwich and the platters, I think the sandwich provides more value for your money, although the portion is definitely smaller than the platter. The falafel is absolutely delicious and better texture than any other falafel that I’ve ever had! Warning: this place is a bit grungy (hot and cramped in the summer time!) and cash only!
Food was ok I expected to be better the seating area is very dirty it's not a good experience will not be going back there again
I have always been a loyal customer for over 35-40 years. Love the Falafel's and everything else, and will continue on for as long as they stay
This was my go to restaurant when I was in grad school at NYU in the 80s. Took my sons there several years ago while looking into colleges. Hasn’t changed a bit. Best meal at best price. A must go to. Enjoy.
The falafel was good but I felt it was too small for the sandwich which was mainly lettuce. More falafel would have been great!
Terrible place. Not clean. Staff is rude. Cash only which leads me to believe that they are defrauding the US Government.
Looks like they are cooking more than just falafels here. They are cooking the books.
Very enjoyable experience; the staff was helpful, the service was fast and the food was amazing.
I highly recommend trying the baba ghanouj falafel sandwich, it's a great combination!
