Dr. Bitan is THE best! He performed all of my surgeries, beginning in 1999 - bloodless surgeries on a spinal hemangioma. Til this day, he holds a very special place in my heart. I am forever be grateful to him.

My personal experience with Dr Bitan is a rather interesting one. I met Dr Bitan in 2004 when he headed the FDA trials for artificial disc replacement (ADR) surgery and was the first physician in the United States to perform this procedure. And I was fortunate enough to participate in the ADR trials with Dr Bitan, so I can proudly say the we made medical history together. He was the first physician in the United States to perform ADR and I was one of the first patients in the United States to receive ADR.

Now, in November of 2023, almost 20 years later I can confidently state that I am living proof of just how successful and life changing ADR can be. During these 20 years I have had ZERO problems or complications with my ADR. My L4-L5 artificial disc is still intact and functioning as it was designed to do.

From the moment that I met Dr Bitan and his team of professionals back in 2004, I immediately felt that I had entered an entirely different level of medical care. Dr Bitan and everyone on his team cared for and treated me as if I was the only patient in the FDA study. My nervousness and fear of surgery was completely replaced with excitement and confidence. I knew that I had found the best surgeon, the best procedure, and the best team to care for me.

Within weeks of my ADR surgery I was able to cease all pain medication and I was once again, for the first time in many years, pain free and able to live a normal life.

So now almost 20 years later, I am once again returning to Dr Bitan for his top notch surgical expertise, for possible cervical ADR. Knowing first hand how well ADR has worked for me since 2004, I am once again seeking to have Dr Bitan perform my next ADR. We recently reunited to talk about my current spine issues and I was overwhelmed as to how gentle, kind and concerned a Doctor he still is after all these years. I will once again put my life in his talented and skillful hands.

Dr. Bitan hands down is one the nicest, caring, thorough doctors I have ever been a patient of. He truly is one of a kind! I had a rhizotomy (August ‘22) because my issue was more the sacral iliac joint. I went to Hudson Regional where he preformed the surgery and everything went so smooth from moment I walked in. As much as I thought that surgery was the final cure, the pain did come back after 6 months which Dr. Bitan said could happen. He was honest from day 1!
Dr. Bitan spoke to me about an artificial disc (L4-L5) because he felt that I would be a candidate rather then do a fusion. I went to Hudson Regional again (July ‘23) and everything he said I would feel from beginning to recovery was exactly that. I am so grateful to Dr. Bitan for helping me with the back pain. I could write for days how amazing he is! Thank you again and hopefully won’t have to come back again even though I will miss seeing him! What an amazing man!

Dr. Bitan is the absolute BEST of the BEST when it comes to spine surgery. He operated on my back twice (2 different problems) my Dad’s back once and neck at a later date and my husbands back once. We fly all of the way from Florida to go see Dr. Bitan! I can’t say enough about him. His bedside manner is exquisite, his surgical abilities are 5 star plus! I lived my entire 20’s on pain pills and patches until I found Dr. Bitan! I have my life back! I work out every day, I do kickboxing with my son and I am absolutely living my best life!

Dr. Bitan did my cervical artificial disc and 1 level fusion 12 years ago, this February. Since then, I have led an extremely active lifestyle sports/hike/work, etc. My neck is so good, I forget I had surgery. That's about the highest compliment in my opinion. I will add that throughout the process, Dr. Bitan was open to and offered options, and was extremely available anytime I reached out.

I was referred to Dr. Bitan by a prominent physician in New York City due to an acute issue involving my neck. Dr. Bitan saw me right away. Ultimately, I ended up having surgery with Dr. Bitan but not until after he had worked with me to exhaust every non-surgical option. From the moment I asked Dr. Bitan for a second opinion, I knew he and his team would be my first option for addressing the severe pain I was experiencing. I had contacted him for a second reading of my MRI and x-ray images. Directly after reviewing them, he called me: it was in the late afternoon, he offered to stay in his office to meet me in the early evening, and he explained not only the sources of the pain but a number of possible options we might take to prevent permanent damage from a nerve compressed by a herniated disc.

It was wonderful to work with him. I always knew the details of the treatment he wanted to pursue, why he had recommended that course of action, and what I needed to do to keep the healing on course. The surgery was swift, and I was well prepared for the changes in the days and weeks afterwards. He and his staff were always available for consultation and help. And did I mention his wonderful sense of humor? It was a deep pleasure to work with him, and I am happy to give him my highest recommendation.

Dr. Bitan was the seventh doctor I interviewed in late December of 1999 and I was immediately impressed by how easy it was to talk to him, unlike the other patronizing 6. He was personable, very knowledgeable, and made me feel like I was the most important person in the world. My husband and I had been told by other doctors to cancel our long-held plans to go to Paris to celebrate the millennium but he implored us to go and even gave us the name and phone number of a colleague there in case I needed help. And we did! My successful surgery took place In January 2000.

Fast forward to December 2022 when I discovered I needed him again. He was just as down-to-earth as I remembered. He determined I needed emergency surgery and called his team of top notch specialists together. They canceled office hours and rescheduled surgeries just to fit me in before Christmas. The compassion I experienced was remarkable. I can’t say enough about the very gracious and professional office staff who went above and beyond to help me with all the appointments and tests necessary. Shout-out to Dawn and Kevin! Talking with Dr. Bitan is like having a great conversation with your favorite uncle - you never want it to end. I have trusted my life to him twice and will not hesitate to do so again if the need arises, which it probably will.

Dr. Bitan replaced two discs in my c-spine with artificial discs. It has only been 8 weeks but I am already feeling strong and mobile and like new. I can't stop praising Dr. Fabien Bitan. First his staff is very friendly and helpful and second Dr. Bitan is so knowledgeable and so easy to talk to. I was very nervous about the procedure but Dr. Bitan and his staff made me feel comfortable and I am glad I went thru the procedure.

Dr. Bitan is a skilled and thoughtful surgeon, an expert on state of the art therapeutics and devices. Dr. Bitan performed two cervical procedures on me over the past three years (including a revision of a prior cervical fusion surgery).

Since we have years of cervical spine related imaging (MRIs and CT scans), we were able to track a small but growing mass in my thyroid.

The MRI in advance of my latest spine procedure recommended a thyroid ultrasound. This led to a biopsy, molecular testing, specialty bloodwork, a CT scan and an early diagnosis of a rare but deadline form of thyroid cancer known as medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), which was successfully removed.

Not only has my cervical-related pain been addressed, I was able to avoid a potentially catastrophic outcome from MTC and feel like I have been given many more years.

I'm grateful to Dr. Bitan, his office, and my entire medical team for all the incredible care I received. Thank you Dr. Bitan!

Dr. Bitan is knowledgeable, compassionate, empathetic, thorough, and excellent communicator. After having several unsuccessful lumbar spine surgeries by a certain surgeon. My condition worsened. I lost my independence and my mom, husband, and aide had to do everything for me. I was living with chronic pain. I had wear and sleep in a custom made back brace, and used a walker or two canes with assistance.
My husband would carry a bag with the charging station and remote control for my Lumbar Spine cord stimulator and pain medications, wherever we go. I clearly remembered my first visit to Dr. Bitan in March of 2007. The staff was amazing. Dr. Bitan explained in detailed my medical condition, so my husband and I could understand, and he encouraged questions.
Dr. Bitan had to removed all the medical devices from my anterior lumbar spine fusion and the spinal cord stimulator, then redid my lumber spine surgery. Dr. Bitan gave me back my independence, He saved my life. In 2008 Dr. Bitan performed my cervical fusion with disc replacement. Doctors are amazed at the flexibility in my neck. Again in April of 2022, Dr. Bitan performed S. I. Joint fusion with instrumentation. I have had many surgeries with other surgeons, and I can honestly say: Dr. Bitan is best surgeon and the most trusted. I highly recommend Dr. Bitan.

Every staff is attentive. Very little to no wait time. Dr. Bitan gives his honest opinion and very thorough with explaining procedures and after care.
