Rude doctor very passive and nasty. Also made my child get reschedule for only 15 minute grace period while joint is in extreme urgent pain

Dr. Mattern cared for me through two knee replacements. Throughout those processes, I found Dr. Mattern to be very skilled, always willing to answer questions, and always professional. I'm so thrilled with the outcomes and would recommend Dr. Mattern to anyone seeking treatment for similar issues.

I saw Dr Mattern years ago and he was the rudest doctor I’ve ever seen. He openly accused me of faking an injury, at the time I was in such shock that I didn’t respond accordingly, but looking back this is a huge red flag and this doctor should be avoided at all costs.

To date Dr. Mattern has performed two rotator cuff surgeries on me. In each pre operative evaluation he kindly and clearly explained my injuries and the best course of action. In both instances my expectations were exceeded in the way I was treated by Dr. Mattern and the staff of Rye Ambulatory Surgery Center. An evening phone call from him raised my heavily sedated spirits with his reassuring and kind nature. Many times I have referred people I know to Dr. Mattern and describe him as a surgeon at the top of his game, because that is what he is.

Dr. Mattern is incredible! I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone. His expertise spoke volumes during my appointment while reviewing my MRI on January 18,2021. He provided the best consultation for me to avoid further pain from a torn meniscus. It’s been 2 weeks since Dr. Mattern performed my knee surgery. I can’t thank him enough for his outstanding quality care! His staff was great too!

Skip this smug arrogant doctor. He said I was too overweight. I lost a substantial bit of weight and he still wouldn’t operate. He said my hip would pop out. Pick a professional MUCH MORE experienced doctor like Dr. Oh who operated and gave me a perfect hip replacement! My operation and recovery were perfect! I told my internist never recommend this loser to anyone!

Because my hands and arms are so important to my livelihood, Dr Mattern is the only Ortho I will let touch me. I Had a complete biceps tendon insertion/repair, went from looking like a T-rex to being able to live like a human being again.

My mother went in for a consult and Dr. Mattern did nothing but scare her about a hip replacement surgery she desperately needs. If you want a compassionate doctor and one who will take his time answering your questions, look elsewhere!

If we could have sued him we did. Many other surgeons believe his faulty care is the reason my husband now has a permanent drop foot. He gave my husband gel shots for no reason as the X-ray clearly saw no bone on bone. My husband will never be able to walk correctly again. He also doesn’t return phone calls. When asked for medical records to go to a different doctor, I was ignored for weeks.

I can't help but to wonder if these 5 star reviews are fake and paid for! He's lucky I didn't take legal acton against him for his mediocre performance and misleading diagnosis. Luckily, I found a real 5 STAR Orthopedic elsewhere, and my condition was treated. STAY AWAY from him.

Excellent doctor. Took the time to carefully analyze my bicep issue, when two other doctors hadn’t. He also has great bedside manner. Wish more orthopedists were as on the ball as he is.
